A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I look every where on the handle bar of my bike trying to locate the light switch or Hi/Lo beam switch and I can't find it. Would you kind enough to guide me to the right location or there isn't one for this bike?

Thanks,

Not exactly sure but if it is like my 550L, the turn signal switch will move up and down to turn on high or low beams. My 81 650g (no L) has a separate switch to turn on high beams as well as a headlight on and off switch. I believe these were phased out by 82. I assume you are aware of the position of turn signal switch on left side of handlebars.

Thanks for reply. The turn signal only can go left or right. I did try to see if it can push in and confirm it can't.

On the Tachmeter, there is a light which says high beam. So, there should be a switch to activate this and somehow I can't locate this. Unless, the bike I had got modified by the previous owner which he wires the light directly without any switch.

high low headlight switch

high low headlight switch

the high low switch on my 83 gs 650L is the turn switch also. It moves right and left for the turn indcator, and up and down (towards the sky and toward the ground ) for high and low. your 82 sounds just like my 83 so I would take a second look.:)

My 82650E is the same, signal left and right, up for high beam, down for low beam.

Uh...huh...I double check and confirm it is exactly what Jack said. Thanks so much for all your help.

Would someone confirm that there is no light switch to turn on/off the headlight?

Thanks.
