I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I've heard that patches are stronger than the rest of the tube.
I assume this has a lot to do with prep.
I'd rather do without.

assembly begins, i got a fair start on it over the weekend.

Your welds on the braced swingarm looked almost too good to cover but now that assembly has begun...Black is Beautiful.

I can't take credit for the welding I just tacked it together then had a friend tig weld it up

i got the engine painted will wait a week to put it in give the paint plenty of cure time and round up a stepson to help lift it

So the stepson came over for dinner tonight so i took advantage of that and had him help me lift the engine in to the frame. The slightly smaller dimentions of the oilcooled gsx motor make it much easier to get in than the original.

I didn't think I would... but I actually enjoy the lack of bling! Looking good!

This is such a fantastic build.
You have done such a great job, well done.

I will be painting my bike parts black also, so will follow the thread.

Not trying to be devil Advocate here but... I would highly recommend upgrading to twin or maybe triple Pot Calipers in the front with floating disc brakes. The 1216 cc kit on those motors equals nasty hp and torques. There's a reason they equipped Hyabusa brakes on the Bandit 1200 series. I ran a GS1100E front brake setup on my old GS750L and the brakes were good and did a good job to stop the 500lbs 80 hp beast... But no way adequate in comparison to the Nissin Setup on my B-12... I certainly wouldn't want to use those GS1100E brakes on a motorcycle that can easily and quickly bury a 170mph speedo... :o

The build looks nice!
Just hope you remember your Stoppers should compliment your engine...
GOOD LUCK KEEP US UPDATED!!!

I agree on the brake upgrade but its not in the budget this year unless you would like to donate your bandit frontend;) this bike wont see extreme speeds untill I can upgrade brakes, wheels and tires

LOLOL Ummm no... I need the B-12 front end for the B-12. But an upgraded front end it going to do wonders for braking and handling!!! Just keep it under a 100!... OR maybe a 120 at most… ;)
Cheers!
Good Luck!

Brakes

Brakes

A cheaper option maybe is to fold some brackets to fit newer calipers to the existing forks. Then add a fork brace.I have this set up on my GS 1000 with approx 125hp.Six pots are great for one finger control.:)

I happen to have an extra set of four pot gsxr calipers ;)

Looking forward to seeing the bike all together.

Excellent build! Love it all. What's the body going to be? Close to stock or other?

I'm looking forward to this as well, but think that you need a long term plan for suspension upgrades . Ideally you would end up with some sort of radial tires.

I had upgraded stock suspension (fork brace, emulators, Avon road riders, Ohlins ) and after going to an 1166, head work, cams the bike felt more squirrly. An after using a more modern brake setup with a wider radial front tire I would not want to go back.

Thanks for all of the good words and suggestions. I do have a long term plan that includes an usd front with big brakes and tire and more rear tire and some ohlins (might need to rob a bank for this) plan to get it running this year as is and do some casual riding then upgrade when I can. It will be wearing the stock 82 gs750 body parts except for the gauges are older not shure were they came from but they kinda look like gs1000 except they go to 140 MPH. The 82 750 body is same as 80-81 1100s

some more pics of my slowly progressing project. waiting for exhaust gaskets in install header should be here by thursday

More progress today header half way on,clutch pushrod, cover bolts also came with exhaust gaskets so i put them on. got carb boots on and went to test fit carbs and they would'nt slip right on so i measured them and surprise they are 38mm not 36mm wow cool but they will be difficut to get on. i have almost everthing to get it started. next is wiring. still saving $$ for brake hoses, chain & sprokets
