A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Yesterday, I did the weather stripping on the air filter and to night the bike fired up right away. The throttle response sucked but it ran. THE AIRBOX SHOULD BE TIGHT!!!. Second problem I found was the petcock vaccume diaphram unit was a little loose. Tightened it up and a little more improvement.

Tonight I brought home 4ft vacuume and fuel lines and hung the gastank from a ladder. My idea was to try to adjust the idle air jets to see if that was the running problem. Once I got past the above problems, it seemed ok. I rode the bike around the neighborhood.

The performance really sucks but it does ride. I wouldn't take it out on some streets, but putt.

I did find not voltagevariation at the battery terminals so I'm beting the regulator is bad as well. This bike really is a boner.

So I have bad performance, bad charging, and a somewhat bad attitude. I may still have to pay for the smooth running performantce part but, it should be able to be worked on now.

Still need a REAL air filter element, a compression check, plugs, and regulator/ or hopefully not stator.

thanks for reading.

As SDL said, plus make cartain your valve clearences are correct before carb tuning.

yep, this week is air filter, plugs, and probably honda regulator as soon as I figure out if the stator is good. Oh yeah, those vent tubes... they will be history when I get home tonight!

Im not sure theyll make the huge improvement on the 850 if everything else is right.

I just went through a "boner" of an 850, end result is it now runs great and has vent tubes still installed.

it too tried my patience but Im very happy now that I did it.

something like day 12... it continues:

140 psi for each cylinder :D
The rr seems to be charging :D
vent tubes came off [but I haven't ridden it yet]
today gets new plugs[got one in my pocket and wally world is next door]
Local bike shop has uni filter sheet for close to real air element.

gulf coast texans -> good luck and hang in there!
