If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

OK, shout out to portdave for selling me the donor engine to rebuild mine after the head incident. Rebuilt my engine, 150-155 in all cylinders compression, electrical everything is in spec, valves adjusted, torques etc.

My set up:

APE pods
Dynojet Stage 3 kit
Delkevic 4-1 megaphone
Dyna 3 ohm coils
Dyna Wires
NGK plug caps
NGK plugs B8ES - gapped to spec
4 1/2 turns mixture as per Dynojet instructions
155 DJ jets
Needle to second clip from the top
horn relay mod to coils
electrosport stator - good
SH847AA R/R -good
everything else pretty much stock

petcock clear
carbs clear
tank clear
tank vent good

Still running rich, the 155's are the smallest jets in the kit, still blackish with some coffee creamer color(plug chops at bogging rpm/5k, 7k, 8k no change same color), changing to the top slot makes no difference. The next DJ size down is 150, I have already ordered 142-150... was a few bucks more to get the multi-pack. At above 4k rpm, I get intermittent bogs since the rebuild, I have been through all the needle positions, jets and the best that I have right now is the current set up until the 150's arrive. Plan is to put the 150's in and set the needle at #3 and start over. Everyone is amazed that I need smaller jets and not the bigger ones having pods and exhaust, anomaly, what can I say. Can't use the machines at the university, there is a line for the students to use them for their projects, so I am assed out in that department.

Any other advice? May I have over oiled the pods?

Try running different filters. I had a GS 850 set up very similar to yours. I used the smaller pod filters ( Emgo ) and had a rich condition at higher RPM. I did the same thing you are doing, dropping jet sizes trying to cure the problem. I finally installed the recommended K&N filters recommended in the Dyno-Jet kit. Voila!!! Problem solved. The smaller filters don't flow enough air at higher RPM

sounds like I might be buying the K&N fitlers. The APE's are supposed to be the exact same as the K&N, if you put them side by side you can't tell the difference other than color.

K&N RC-0984 looks and size exactly like the APE Super Pro pods

4 1/2 turns mixture as per Dynojet instructions

I would try the mixture screws in 1/2 a turn and then in 1/2 a turn again and see if that does anything. The standard comments have always been that the screws are wide open by about 3.5 turns and opening them more does nothing extra. How loud is the Delkevic exhaust? It may be pretty restrictive and reducing flow despite being an aftermarket 4-1.

The APE filters that OP is using are K&N clones, they are the same size and materials and will flow air just like the K&N's.

1 baffle removed get a good loud sound, smooth but loud. Both baffles removed, I have to wear earplugs riding.

after doing some deeper innerweb research... there is a "rough math" formula for getting a good guess as to what jet size to start with based on what you have added to your bike. Based on that math, my main jet size should be roughly a DJ148 or a DJ150. Once the new jets come in, I'll start with the 150's and work my way from there.

As I've just learned, float setting might help, had to lean [lower] mine quiet a bit to get above 5k to stop Stuttering?

Pulled the carbs off again after adjusting the pilot with little effect, the APE pods have a small lip that was blocking the air on the 4 o?clock position of the face of the carb. I cut a teeny bit of the lip off and reinstalled the pods. Works much better, barely any bogging. Still running rich, will install the dynojet 150 jets and adjust the needles when they come in.
