    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted.   • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Are there (inexpensive) carb swaps for an '83 1100 from a later year that bolt on?

1150 carbs are a 2mm upgrade and they bolt on and also take the same DJ jet kit if you already have one and want to swap them out.
 
Next step up is 36mm Slingshot CV flatslides
What years are these found on?

I was thinking about the 1150's. Thats great that my Dynojet kit will go right in.

Will there be much loss in low and mid? That is important to me.

Slingshot Carbs.

I'm pretty sure they were on the 89-90 GSXR 1100 as well as some of the Slingshot 750's (87-91). Gixxer.com has free manual downloads. You can tell they are 36mm from the oval inlet not round. (filter side)

Chef can help setting up the 1150 carbs.
Both should improve performance across the board but the BST36SS will do more.

1991 Suzuki GSXR 750 Slingshot Carbs.
They look in good condition and were working well on the last bike. they were removed by the last owner to fit some Mikuni RS carbs.
I purchased 2 sets of carbs for my 81 Katana 1100, and have decided to use some 34mm Mikunis.
These slingshot carbs are a high performance semi flat slide CV carbs that will fit straight on to most GSX-GSXR's from 1981-92.

Comments from previous owner:

BST36SS carburetors from a 91-92 GSXR750. These were on my 1987 GSXR750 as a replacement for the originals. Came off bike working. Will be using flatslide RS34 carbs instead.

Have been told they have a dynojet kit when I purchased bike, which it appears they do (stepped needles) as pictured though i'm not 100%. I stripped cleaned and checked them over ~6 months ago, replacing the worn burred philips screws with new allen head bolts.

Middle needle clip height, not sure of what size jets etc. Ran well in my bike, with even light brown coloured plugs. However possibly has worn emulsion tubes (ovaling).

 
bandit 1200's have/had 36mm slingshot style carbs.
i installed a gsxr st.3 jet kit on my bandit with the big oval twin filters..
noooo problemssss.
10.80's w/ my little 235lbs azz on it.
ran it like that till i found a set of 38mm radial slides for $250.00 used.

I got a couple of sets of sling shots 36's and 2 or 3 jet kits but a little unsure on setup as my Carb guy (Chef) is not quite sure how to set them up :confused:.

We have not had time to muck with them between MLS sniveling sessions.

How do the 36mm CV carb jets convert to the 36MM CV slingshots?

Now I remember my issue, the DJ kit for the Slingshot carbs has nearly straight needles with no taper. Heard better to go with FactoryPro as least that is the buss at Gixxer.com.

what would he do if he really had some compression:p

i installed my dynojet kit in the bandit as per instructions and used the largest main jet.
if a person's not at alltitude ***IMO*** i think spending alot of time on some of these carbs after the origanal setup are not needed for the most part.
the most i did was run my bike with and without air filters..
these oval shaped carbs opened my eyes for sure.
the bike slowed down over a tenth of a second with the filters off.
not becuase it was lean(i do not oil my K&N's)it was from the shape of the inlet or something with the air being disrupted maybe.
the filters stayed on till i replaced the carbs with radial slides(ran best without filters).
im not sure about the jets from CV to slingshot..not really sure what your asking?

Sorry been gone doing inventory on carbs , jet and o-ring kits :lol:

Not Sure I know what I'm asking either. Just know that Bill has me setup with 147.5's Mikuni mains and after a little fiddling with the needle the bike runs great with 1150 36mm CV's (the 1100ED in my siggy). Would like to make that a starting point to move over.

So I'm wondering which stage 3 kit your talking about? I have the 89-92 GSXR 1100 3136.003 DJ jet kit and t comes with 155 to 160 which are about 145-150 Mikuni. Should I just move the 147.5 over from the 1150 carb or use the Jet Kit?

Do the needle settings move over (I know that is probably a stretch)?

IIRC, Bill has talked about difficulty running lean on the pilot jet with the CV Flatslides. This is now beyond me to discuss.

Well I have to say his L works harder than most :p.

Big Boy, close to 300 lbs,
Baco usually over 100 deg,
Bill has a new 1/4 twist throttle :rolleyes:

He was coming up the grapevine on a long steep grade on the 5. :o
