    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

83 GS1100 oil cooler on a 82?

Looks to me like this would be a fairly straight forward install on an 82. I see from a search I did that the only thing I would have to deal with would be correct oil level, since the oil from the cooler will drain down after shutoff. Anyone know where to get the bolts for the banjo fittings?

The 1983 GS1100 didn't come with an oil cooler. Are you referring to some aftermarket oil cooler kit? Trying to understand if there is any engine differences between 1982 and 1983 1100E that would prevent the same kit from fitting?

I think all the 80-83 1100 16V have the banjo bolts. The 84-86 GS1150 oil colloer will fit. Chef1366 just sourced some bolts but we had to drill them :o.
Dealer sent the wrong bolts. :(
 
Part # 09360-14005. Still available from Suzuki. You'll need 4 crush washers as well.
 
When installing the oil cooler I assume you will be tapping into the two main oil galley plugs on the front of the engine on either side of the oil filter cover. You will also need an '83 oil filter cover. The '83 cover has a built in orifice restrictor that you need to force the oil through the cooler. Without it, very little oil will actually flow through the cooler. You can also install a oil galley plug restrictor and modify the '82 cover, but it's much simpler to just install an '83 cover with the built in restrictor.

you mean 1150 oil filter cover.
80-83 1100 16v. engines all have the same filter cover..1150 is different because they come with a factory oil cooler.
 
Oops, the ebay listing said oem oil cooler for and 83 GS1100, must be listed incorrectly. I'll check what's there first as far as bolts go. Will get the GS1150 oil filter cover to make it work. Thanks for the oem PN#s!
