DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Not a bad price for what you have there.....

covers are normally aluminum, and are polished, sort of like what I did on mine, if your's have been chromed, then it was done afterwards, I don't know of any our bikes that came like that. As for the rims, I don't know enough to say if that is the stock color for the rims or if they have been painted to suite the PO

check your tires date code, see if they are still OK, or do they need to be changed

check everything over and have fun

thanks.. will be going through everything on the bike before it gets put on the road.. Starting with electrical first.. then Valve clearance.. Even though the engine sounds real good i'm checking everything..

Hey if your in need of a painter.....just saying, I just used a guy in your neck of the woods to shoot all my tins, good work and cheap, compared to the local guys in my area.....if you decide to go that far on the bike...let me know and I will post the name and location of the place....

Yours would have been a nice project for me for the winter.....LOL

thanks for the offer.. If I decide to paint it and need somebody I'll come msg you.. I'm in Niagara

I think you stole that bike for that price.
The wheels do not come gold stock, you can go back to my photo and see what stock ones look like, also the cam end covers are from a earlier model I think.
The chromed covers are truly nice!
I don't believe those turn signals are stock, but close, I'd need to see another pic to verify.
Your seat has been redone, a little shallower on the front, but mine has also, doesn't have the strap the stockers came with.
But............. doesn't it look so much better without all the stuff on it?
If it's a strong runner you'll be having a great time for sure.

Great looking bike. On '82's, I've found on this site pressed cranks up to engine #146884, welded cranks after #1466889.

Does that second number have one two many digits, or does the first one missing one? There allot of bikes in between the two numbers you think?
So, my '82 GS1100E that was manufactured in 02/82 has a engine serial number of 152474, welded crank? I'd like to think so.

ooops! 2nd #146889. And yes it seams you have a welded crank.

thanks for all the replies, appreciate the comments and information.. This forum is so full of information it's insane.. The bike runs very strong, engine sounds excellent.. I will be going through all the wiring very soon and redoing every connection and ground.. Then i'll be changing all the orings with new one..

I'm sure i'll posting here again..

I've always liked these bikes, I'm glad I finally found a 1100E, they're not the easiest bikes to find.. I looked for a long time..

thanks

That is a really nice bike! I just got an 1100GK toured recently, &am bringing it back to reasonable condition. Am normally into sport tourers. So, when I saw those better bags &the big windshield on your 1100E, it made me think about what I want next! Nice bike!

You got a GREAT buy!!! I build these engines if you ever decide you are used to it & it needs more power! :D Look at the 83, 6 spoke wheels & see if you are like me & like the look of them better than the star pattern wheels your bike came with. I specialize in the 1100s & 1150s so feel free to call me at 714--356-7845 if you ever need a question answered.
Ray.
