I picked up a 1983 GS750TD that had been stored for 10 years with gas in the tank.
To get it to start, I drained all the gas from the tank and carb bowls, replaced the battery, and put in new spark plugs.
Now it will start (yay!).
Unfortunately, upon starting it will idle normally for about 2 seconds, then quickly ramp up to 5000 rpms, and stay there until I turn it off.
It is at this point that I prefer to seek expert advice, as opposed to just poking around until it works better.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I was told it ran fine before it was stored.
Thoughts? Comments? Insults?
Thanks
