A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I took the starter off and sent it to a rebuild shop because it was slow and dragging while cranking. He ordered a kit that was suppose to fit and found out that it wouldn't. My starter has 2 brushes and bushings instead of needle bearings. The kit that he got had 4 brushes and needle bearings. The only thing that I could think of is that the starter came off a smaller bike and that is why is slow to crank. any input on this would really be helpful.

That still doesn't tell me why the kits wont fit my starter. I might have to go that route and buy a new starter.

It doesn't fit because it's for the wrong bike......

Why not buy the brush set from Suzuki for about $35-40 and replace them yourself ?

Suzuki used a couple of different suppliers for starter motors, and the distribution can be random. Usually, Stockers.com will have the correct information, but sometimes you have to improvise.

It's also possible that your GK is wearing a starter from another model, which may further confuse the issue -- there's a lot of cross-compatibility. None are any stronger or weaker; on any starter that fits, the motors are all the same physical size, and the number of teeth on the gear will be the same.

If you examine your starter carefully, you should uncover a small marking that reveals the name of the manufacturer -- an "ND" for Nippon Denso, three diamonds for Mitsubishi, etc.

You can also compare your motor's brush plate and parts with the photos on Stocker's site to locate the correct parts.

That would if the brushes were the problem. The problem is my starter has a bushing and the kit has bearings. My bushings are worn out.

My starter guy crossed the number over to 4 wheeler part.

The 1100s to my knowledge had bearings and four brushes.
I think your starter was changed to a smaller model one.
