A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Brian, Just thought I'd better check and make sure I have a room at the Rosemont. Please let me know if not so I can make other arrangements. The wife is coming this time.

    Hi Rich -

Yes, you are in! I emailed a confirmation.

Just check in with Jay when you get there.

No fancy confirmation numbers or anything... just tell him who you are.
    Hi Bill --

I've fallen in love with the Avon AM26 RoadRiders. I've put them on several other bikes and been through three or four sets myself. I ride very aggressively, and I get a very consistent 6,000 miles out of the rears, and 12,000 out of the fronts. I don't ride them down as far as you do (if the tire I saw on your bike last weekend was any indication), so you'll likely get even better mileage.

I've never seen any cracking problems either, so I don't know what's up with that. Perhaps it doesn't affect the shaftie sizes.

Denniskirk.com and americanmototires.com usually have the best delivered prices.

The front 100/90-19 size is actually listed as a front/rear. The 17" rear is listed as 130/90-17, but the 16" rear (for GL models) is listed as MT90-16 for some reason.

They also don't require balancing -- balance your bare wheel, then stick with Avons and you don't need to balance again. Nice. :D

Brian, how do you like Avon for a rear tire? My Bridgestone BT45 is smooth after 7500 miles, I always felt it was sticking real good, but it's pricey.
    Let me know, thanks!

Hey Brian, where do you suggest I go to get the best deal on tires/installation? My SV has a shinko rear tire that is getting thin in the middle. I want to replace it, but I don't want to pay stealership prices. I was pricing some avons, michelins, and pirellis. My dealer doesn't even carry the michelins or pirellis, and the avons run $70 more than I can get them online WITHOUT installation costs. Most of the dealers around here don't want to install tires unless I purchase from them.

Who's good around Indy? Any experience with cycle outfitters?

Thanks! Look forward to riding with you again soon.

Hi Brian, Don Clifton here from OZ, AKA Suzuki_Don. I was wondering could you give me a heads up on putting the crankcase halves back together. Particularly in reference to where the sealant should and should not be placed. I plan on using ThreeBond 1194 do you think that is OK.

On the two crankcase halves where they come together there are sections that join up and other parts like where the transmission shafts lay and the crankshaft end bearings and seals will seat. In the semi circle cavities am I right in assuming that no sealant or anything goes on these. That these areas stay dry and the respective shafts and outer bearing housing are placed in here and everything tighten up once selant has been placed on the flanges only. Any advice and help would be appreciated as this is a first time for me. Thanks.

P.S. I am paranoid about leaving out some vital component like the oil "O" ring between the case halves and finding it on the bench after everything is back together.

    Thanks again.

    Cheers
