A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Went for a ride last week only to have the 82 GS450 GA conk out on me on the bottom of the hill
It would start, run rough, then die.
Look it over a bit and checked the crank case which was full of gas.

Friend trailered me back and I drained about 1.75 gallons of oil / gas out the case.

Did some diagnosing as I though it would be the stuck needle seat valve and perhaps junk got in there from the bad filter on the petcock.
Though I did find an issue there, (old o-ring) it was not the issue.

Today I hooked up tank to the carbs and watched.
Gas is making its way through the vacuum side of the petcock into the carb with the accelerator pump.

Will pull the petcock again and see if that side can be salvaged.
It's either a 44300-45370 or a 44300-45373
and maybe 44300-45373 (ALSO 44300-45370 , 45371, 45372, 34470, 34471).

I do have a cheapo one from Amazon, but it's a bit of a kludge to make it work, but may be an option.

I've forgotten his name but there is a guy on Ebay that sells petcocks reasonably priced .... I'm pretty sure they are the same ones as Suzuki uses .... I examined my old one and the one I bought from him and they were identical ......

Yeah, I figured that was the one. I haven’t had to replace my petcock yet, but I’ve read enough good stuff about those that I’ll definitely get one when I do need it.

I have rebuilt a few petcocks. 50/50 results. If I can buy a new/used one reasonably priced, I'd rather replace than keep getting stuck and having to do all those oil changes. ;)

Thanks,
That was my take too, so ordered a 48 dollar one from Japan.
