A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Please share your wisdom with me. My Klymer manual doesn't seem to cover this very well. I ran out of gas with the bike today, had to push it/coast it to a gas station about a half mile. If that wasn't bad enough, I look down and see one of the nuts holding the throttle cable had come off. After gassing up, riding home, bathing my kids and putting them to bed, I proceeded to tackle this job. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get at the nuts very well without taking the tank off, and I ended up pulling the carbs out to access it more easily (which on the 450 involves pulling the battery, which is a PIA itself, then loosening the airbox and pushing it back. Tightened up the nuts, got the bike back together and...damn thing was idling at 3000! Grrr...pulled it apart again, and looks like I went to the other extreme, as now it won't idle, but it will start and run. Please tell me there's an easier way to do this!

took the tank off again today and tried to adjust the throttle again. What a major PITA. I can't seem to find a happy medium. It either idles way too fast, or it won't idle. I'm also having a hell of a time with the idle adjuster. Sometimes it doesn't turn all that easy, and again, I can't seem to find the happy medium. I guess I'll have to try it again tomorrow and see if I can get it straightened out.

There's two places to adjust the throttle cable 1) at the throttle grip itself. There should be a plastic nut you loosen which will allow you to unscrew the plastic, threaded housing in all the way which should give you slack. 2) is at the carbs, the nut you were talking about. I have the bolt screwed nearly alll the way down. It is easier t adjust with the tank off, but you shouldn't have to remove the carbs. Also you can remove the carbs without removing the battery, it just takes a little finesse. Hope this helps.
