A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi,

Iv got an 82?gs650L, and it came without an air filter, "all i have" is the air filter box with the lid, i tried looking around for filters, but cannot find one that really fits, i got one from "some place" but it was too long for the box.

Could anyone direct me to where i can find the right filter and what ever is supposed to hold it in place, like i said i only have the naked filter box with lid.

Im not wanting to put pod filters on, keeping it stock.

In addition i need what ever pieces of metal or what ever that helps the filter box stay closed, keep the lid attached.

Thank you for any pointers.

Have you checked the parts fiche from any of the dealers to get a stock filter? If you aren't sure where to find a list of the better online dealers, go to Basscliff's site and re-read the Read Me section

Unfortunately, the foam filter element pictured requires a plastic 'cage' that keeps the filter in the proper 'cone' shape to be properly functional, cage goes inside the filter. Relatively recently, it became apparent that Suzuki stopped supplying the cage with the element, just the foam 'sleeve' is what you get for ordering the part #. Now, that may have changed back, I don't know, you may have to do some research with some phone calls, etc. Also, be aware that if you go to the Air Filter page at Parts Outlaw, the orientation of the diagram is not accurate, in the sense that, as you know, the filter 'container' is horizontal on the bike, but pictured vertically on the parts page to allow Suzuki to show the whole assembly on that one page. Good luck!

super, thank you, yea that cage is what i need, i guess it is what fixes the filter inside the box aswell

The UNI-2440 foam element fits on the shaft 650's. The plastic cage is "D" shaped at both ends to fit mating slots in lid and back of filter box- it could be duplicated simply with wire mesh, as it's just designed to keep element from being swallowed.
