Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Just wondering what type of oil you guys use on your air filter ?. I have been trying a product called FUCHS & as far as I:m concerned they have spelled it wrong, lol .The bike would run rich enough to fowl all the plugs & fuel econemy went out the window, in less than 100 klms. I have since thrown the product away. I have washed out the filter 3 times & it still has enough oil in to do the job  . Even when I first used this stuff I only put a very small amount on , about 1/10 of the recomended dose. Anyway I:m all ears . Roy

I use the same Castrol GTX 20W-50 that I put into my crankcase. Works fine for me.

Thanx for the reply fellas , I:ll try the engine oil I:m running penrite hpr 30 at the moment. Love your GS 1000 Sharpy, makes me wish I still had mine . I parted with her in 1986. Thanx again. :-D

I went to the dealer and got Bel-ray foam air filter oil and it made a big difference in my bikes performance.I was uaing 10w40 but it would just sit at the bottom of the filter and make a mess in the airbox.I am very happy I switched to the foam air filter oil. 1 quart is about $3.50 and will last a long time.

I pour some two stoke mix, 25-1 from my mower into a squeeze bottle and spray the filter until it is damp. I leave it for the petrol to evaporate and then respray it a second time and fit it back into the airbox. This leaves a very thin oil coating on the foam, ideal for catching dust particles. I clean my filter every 3 months. I have never had problems with over oiling with this method.
