As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I am not sure but I think some one put an air fork kit on my 78 GS750. I have reviewed my official welcome's service manuals, and shop manual. No where does it refer these monsters :(

Any thoughts on this appreciated, I want to get rid of them, they get in the way of my clubman bars :(

Might be a different set of forks. Any damage history ?

This bike is not one, but many bikes LOL. The forks though are orginal, maybe not from this bike, but from another 78 GS750? The brake calipers are suzuki, and definately GS, the front wheel is correct, and the tripple clamp has the right mounts for the cluster.

So with out knowing if other bikes used the same caliper mounts I will make the call that these are the original forks. But they have been off, the OE headlight ears have been replaced with cheap clamp ons.

I guess you'll just have to replace them with the original tops - I can't see any other way round your problem.

I have a '79 550L parts bike that has that exact same setup on it. I can't really tell you much about it... I'd imagine you could just put the regular fork nuts on in place of the air fitting nuts.

Well thank fully Suzuki's inventory is still pretty intact for these old bikes. Anything I should look out for when putting the original bolts back on? I shall use this time to put some new fork oil in also.

Hi,

If it's in your budget, you might consider installing some Progressive fork springs. I was able to do away with my air pre-load after installing these. Check out the guide on my website.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

The '78 750 didn't come with air forks from stock so the springs should be fine as is. It was the air assist forks that received the soft stock springs that benefit so much from Progressive springs. Regarding those caps, they are aftermarket. Popular mod back in the day...little did people know that air forks quickly went the way of the dinosaur.
