A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Airbox boots at decent price

I was shocked to see a set of 4 for under $50 - was expecting to pay at least $20 each.

Gotta have a mea culpa on this one, I only wanted one boot because the #1 boot had slipped off the carb - causing excess heat and premature hardening (in the munched shape I'd allowed it to take). I don't know how long I let it run like that - maybe even synced the carbs that way. Duh!

Anyway, I was so pleased at the price that I felt great about getting 4 x new ones and keeping some spares - 2 for the right and 1 for the left.

Wanted to let you guys know - not sure if the "only in a set of four" allowed Z1 to lower the price, but the sets on ebay are certainly more expensive by $25+.

Here are the ones I got - didn't check prices for other models... http://www.z1enterprises.com/ItemDe...irbox+Hoses+(4)-+GS850G/GL&item=13881-45030-K

Do yourself a favor and change all four boots - you'll be good for another twenty years or so.

Oh I will, but the ones I've got are not original. User error can apparently make for rapid aging. :)

But yeah, I'll swap all 4 and since 3 of the 4 I have are still very flexible, I'll keep 'em for back up.

Scott, the ones in my 850 were bad after about 5 years. I blame it on ethanol, of course :D. Come to think of it, the ones I borrowed from the 1000 so I could take the 850 to BC were already turning. One was completely loose in the airbox when I put it back in the 1000, so they all got replaced this summer, after maybe 3 years in service. I wish I knew a way to protect them. Maybe some silicone spray or something?

Guess I'm not the only one. :-) Anyone got a maintenance program for theirs?

Edit: there's a place in town here that sells pure gas, wonder what that'd do for these bikes?
