As soon as i installed the K&N oval cone filters off of my bike the high speed miss cleared up and has been running strong ever since.
that's because oval filters flow worse than conical air filters. i flow benched a K&N oval vs. a Emgo conicial versus no filter. the K&N took about 5-8% flow, the Emgo ADDED 1% flow because it streamlined airflow into the throttle body I was testing!
what this meant is your rejetting was off with the Emgo's and probably didn't have enough fuel for the air it was seeing. With the K&N's you are more dialed in apparently, but not as efficient.
Maybe you guys with water in the air filters problem could build some kind of small rain shround around the carb filters. speaking of rain, it's freaking POURING here in NC right now.
