    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

would like to hear any suggestions to an economical way to clean out a
tank that may have sat for 10 years.Still can hear it slosh inside the tank

dry it out. then take off the petcock and swish an air hose inside there let it whip around and break up the rust. attach a long rubber tube too your air hose i mean. watch for sparks. Kreem is your other altrenative. Otherwise the tank trolls will haunt it for along time too come. If no rust then just empty it. I am assuming the swish is either old gas or water.

Air hose swish around on the inside?? :shock:

First off, determine if there is any rust in the tank. Take off the cap and petcock, dump out the contents, and using a flashlight take a good luck inside. If there is rust, you are going to need to take remedial action: do a forum search on Por-15 and/or Kreem - Por-15 seems to get the nod over Kreem. While you are at it, you might as well take the petcock apart and clean that as well.

If it's just surface rust, like kinda dusty, some phosporic acid (in the form of Bher Concrete Etcher available at the Home Depot) can take care of it no problem. Take the petcock off, fuel sender and gas cap (all have rubber gaskets) and seal them back up with something like wood and some sheet cork. The fill the tank with a gallon of phosphoric acid and a gallon of water and shake it around. Let it sit 15 minutes, then slosh it around again. Repeat for about an hour, drain the phosphoric acid and rinse with water. Then dry it immediately- I used a shop vac set on the blower and left it in there an hour or so. The rust turns back to metal by a chemical reaction. Just did this to my tank earlier this year.

If however the rust is bad andd flaking off in sheets, you need to coat it with the Por-15 or Kreem. Never had luck with the Kreem myself, and never used the Por-15.
 
I found out by taking a length of hose and attaching it too my air hose or gun or what have you. that it whips around in there like a snake. thus breaking up any rust or debris inside your tank. then I just blew it out the petcock or gas sending unit. Try it and see.
