Allergies, particularly the over-hyped peanut allergy, are very often created in children by their own mothers.
I posted that statement here years ago. At that time it went against most commonly (and rigidly) held misbeliefs.
Unfortunately, in a world where the self-interests of quacks and pharmaceutical manufacturers almost dominate, the world moves slowly toward truth.
This article does not address what I suggested at that time, which was that pregnant women who were themselves not allergic, could consume nuts throughout their pregnancy and that might provide immunity to their offspring.
I still have not seen much said in support of that position, perhaps because it might convey some level of guilt to women who believed the misconception and who really did have the best interests of their child at heart when they chose to entirely avoid the consumption of nuts in any form throughout their pregnancies.
I accept that this is not a universal truth, as many variables could still apply, but It bothers me that the error in ignoring this reality was kept in place for so long and the problems it created for so many children could have been avoided.
Further acknowledgement ..credit for the theory I offered goes to my wife, who had done extensive studying on the subject, quite possibly using some or all of the same sources suggested in the article, as well as her own research sources..
