This message from Billy Ricks...

Frank,

I've had a bad experience with an Ebay seller that used to be legit. On October 14th I paid for an auction I won for an oil cooler. I've yet to receive the cooler, the Ebay account had been closed, their email sends out an automated reply that they are going through some changes and are not answering email, and the phone number I got through Ebay does not work. They've also been getting lots of negative feedback lately. Here is a link to the auction, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4580481190&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT.

I get automated email from them from time to time offering 50% discount on orders places by a certain date. After this transaction I would not buy from them again. They probably need to be added to the deadbeat list. I'll try to resolve this through Paypal.

Thanks,
Billy

I got this message from Billy.

Finally got the cooler from Anderson along with a card good for $30 off my next order. Issue resolved.

It appears that they have been having a combination of computer problems and holiday delays. Because they have "sort of" disappeared from EBay, you may still want to exercise caution when dealing with these people.

A new message from David L. King

Frank,
This company has had problems for a long time. I won a side decal and side cover for my GK. They were NOS and great condition, but took about 2 months to get it "due to large orders and little help". I check GK parts everyday and they continue to put the wrong picture for the listing. I finally quit writing to them to let them know. They also had a GK fairing support, which is nothing more than a small piece of channel with two bolts welded to it. They started it out at about $80 and wanted 20 or so for shipping. They answered my first request on this by saying that someone has switched the numbers.
I will not buy anything else from them and I would advise others to be very careful.

I received this message from Tad, founder of Anderson Vintage Parts

Dear fperreault,

It's come to my notice that we are alarmingly listed as a 'deadbeat' seller on your forum!

I would respectfully request to be removed from such categorization.

While we have had limited problems in the past, our business has been completely restructured.

To the best of my knowledge any and all orders needing correction have been attended to.

We are also working to correct the last few errors in our product listings and have implemented a new website and software system to run everything smoothly with little to no manually processing needed, unless requested.

If there are any remaining reservations about our company I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss and resolve them or at least respond.

We are a small family run business and value constructive feedback as this is the key component to fulfilling our customers needs.

I look forward to your reply.

Cheers,

-Tad Anderson

To this I replied

Tad,

It is certainly good news to hear that you are attempting to make changes on improving your buisness. You are are to be commended for that. However, Anderson Vintage Parts will continue to be listed in our Deadbeat section until such time that I hear from customers of yours, that in their eyes, your company's problems are resolved. A good example of how we handle this is the "Internet parts seller - www.oldbikebarn.com (good news)" thread.

Our Deadbeat section provides in important service to our readers. We treat this similar to how the Better Business Bureau does. A company being listed in our Deadbeat section in not a trivial matter. It is done only after receiving several messages from burned customers mentioning money being paid, parts not being delivered in a timely manner and email inquiries not being answered promptly.

While I would like to take your word that all problems are solved, I am sorry but I can't. I will however put out an inquiry to our readers asking them to let me know how any recent experiences went with your company. Upon receiving several satisfactory reviews I will then update the status for the Anderson Vintage parts article.

As is mentioned in the previous Anderson Vintage Parts post, Tad, the founder, has stated that he has improved things with his company. If you have any recent experience, either good or bad, with Anderson, be sure to send me a note letting me know how it went. I would like to list this company on a positive note if I can. Thanks!

Frank,
Back in November I purchased some fairing trim from ebay seller "armytad007" with buy it now. I never received it and he would not answer any of the emails that I sent concerning the purchase. After 30 days with out any contact from him I filed a grevance with paypal and he did refund my money. It just really bugs me when someone does things like this, worst was never receiving a reply to any of the emails that I sent. I don't care if he has "fixed things" I would never purchase from him again, due to his complete lack of customer support. Just my .02 worth on him.

I am still looking for any comments that anyone has regarding any recent business that you may have had with Anderson Vintage Parts. If you have any news, either good or bad, be sure to pass it along.

I have received this info from Suzukasaurus regarding the new eBay ID now being used by Anderson

suzukimotorcycleparts is the ID using the same text, parts, etc.

There's an "about me" link on that ID's auctions which reads:

"I just bought some excess inventory from another part business, hope to list it shortly - I also work several jobs so maybe be slow in answering questions. I picked up a few more jobs to help pay the bills so shipping has got moved to the weekends for me  Sorry about that, hope to catch up on all my e-mails and such this weekend, I'm just to tired when I get home!"

Reading that, I guess it could be taken that the company may have changed hands. Then again, Tad may be referring to his original buy of parts. Or, Tad may be trying to masquerade as a new company entirely.

Darn it, I just keep getting that "weasel words" feeling.

Dan

I am still looking for comments regarding any recent business dealings with Anderson Vintage Parts.

Rustybronco placed a test order with Anderson to see if they had corrected their problems. Apparently they are back to their old bag of tricks. Stay away from them!

Frank, TAD ANDERSON is lame (to put i nicely) no response to 5 e-mails phone disconnected has been selling on e-bay again, lousy feed back, says he is going out of buisness... but his site is still up and running. BAD NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. tried to email, but you know...

Rustybronco was kind enough to do some digging and found this latest information from Tad.

About Me: suzukimotorcycleparts(private) Not a registered user

Due to feedback bombing I've had to make my profile private - I don't care to give them the satisfaction of reading their vulgar , I apologize if this turns you away from bidding on my items, but I'm going out of business anyways, this is it!
************ Please note that I am going out of business, I am offering everything up for sale at my cost before it is returned to my suplier, once it's gone - its gone! ************

Hi, Welcome to my about me page - I sell Suzuki Motorcycle Parts around the world, my quality is perfect, and I am working to improve my shipping.

Right now I am only able to accept money orders, I was taking paypal, but am now looking for a better solution - I apologize for any unconvince this many have caused.

As you've seen I've received some negatives, I've tried my best to explain them in the reply forum - most of them are due to me no longer accepting paypal, or sending a refund instead of the part due to them filing a charge with paypal - please note I will NOT ship any order that a chargeback has been placed on, this is done to protect myself and my other customers - it was a situation like this that made it so I could no longer accept paypal until my account is resolved.

I have also spoken to two of the negatives and are in the process of removing them - I am working hard to get things in order.

Also I do apologize if you have not received an e-mail back from me, I am getting in upwards of 150+ a DAY right now and I just can not keep up or screen them to find the important ones - all orders are being shipped as we speak or refunded. I was just not prepared for how big of a hit this was going to be!

Thank you for your patience!

This from David L. King...

My name is David King and been a mostly inactive member. I posted once about Anderson selling Suzuki parts on Ebay and the problems that I had. So have others. It appears that he is back again under a new ID. Check the following ebay number: 280045969248 It states that it is for a NOS lower fairing for a GK. It is only the bracket that fits on the fairing mount and the fairing. I think that it hold the fairing to the mount.. I wrote to Anderson a few times many, many months ago about this same item being incorrecly listed. they said that it had used a wrong number, but never corrected it. I have seen this picture many times, along with the ridiculus starting bid and more ridiculus shipping cost, always listing it as the lower fairing. Please check it out and let other Suzuki owners know. David L. King Shelbyville, Ky. 82 GS1100GK

TeamJurrasic sent this message. Apparently things aren't any better...

Hi,
I have been reading your DEADBEATS section & have to pass on this information in regards to the continuing activities of Anderson Vintage Parts.

I have ordered & paid for a CDI unit on the 24th of May. It was supposedly "In Stock" and available. I was assured by Tad that the order had been processed immediately. I waited for it to arrive, but it failed too (I also did not receive a tracking code for the postage - like their website says you get).
I checked my account order information on their website on the 15th of June to find it saying that as of the 8th of June the order had not been sent yet. I immediately emailed Tad to find what the situation was, yet he never bothered to respond to my query.
It's now the 5th of July & I'm yet to see any sight of the purchase.
I emailed Tad again today (along with the other contacts on their website) asking for an explaination and wanting to know where my CDI was. I have got no response from him again and now I have logged onto their website to check my account order info, and lo & behold, my order has disappeared completely from their system.

I would like you to update your DEADBEATS section with this new info as rogues like Tad must be taken to task over their behaviour!
Regards,
Jason Austin (Aus).

I received this email from Tad at Anderson Vintage Parts at http://www.andersonvintageparts.com/index.php

Because it has been a while since I have heard anything from forum members about Anderson, I am asking that anyone who has made any recent purchases to let me know via PM how well it went. I will make my decision to either keep this thread listed or remove it based on these experiences.

-- Frank --

I would welcome the opportunity to be reviewed or considered for removal from the 'dead beat list' - we have worked tirelessly to improve our customer support, brought on more staff, more inventory, set up a toll free number and have an average order turn around of 7 business days - which is very good for our type of business.

I've not have more than a few minor complaints from our customer base since we have taken these steps and I'm proud to say that we are a well oiled machine.

I'd welcome you to call directly to discuss this matter or reply to this e-mail.

Cheers,

-Tad Anderson

I received this message from Tatu. Given the fact that I continue to received spotty reports from customers of AVP I would stay away from them. If you are desperate for a part and still order from these people, then the standard statement "caveat emptor", let the buyer beware applies.

-- Frank --

I was wondering if anybody else knew if they were still doing business as I have had no response from them at all. I had been having trouble getting any response from Mr Tad from before I joined the forums, in fact it was a google search that brought me to the gs resources. Also you are asking in that thread for anybody's experiences. Anyway here is a copy of my last email to Mr Tad for your interest.

Dear Sirs,

I have tried to contact you on many occasions via Tad. I had ordered a pair of exhausts on 11/13/2009 order number 1700000554, The order took two months to arrive and that was only after some very blunt emails had to be sent, I had already been in touch with my credit card company and had reimbursement forms when the order arrived, however it contained only one muffler assembly. I had to pay customs and import duties for two pipes, this was not a small amount and just one pipe is no good to me. It also took a fair while and more emails to prise a refund for the missing pipe, When I informed Tad about this he/you were very helpful with advise on how to go about reclaiming my money back from HM Revenue and Customs, and as we all know at best it would be a long drawn out and fruitless business and at worst it would be an even longer drawn out and fruitless affair. so that money was lost. Tad/you said that I would be informed as and when another pipe became available, so much later after all this trouble/expense I was trawling the net again looking for the matching pipe and your web site said that you had one in stock, I tried again to purchase the pipe, I had trouble making the payment with my credit card but Tad was on line and helpfully over three emails telling me where I had gone wrong helped me make the payment. also telling me that he would mark this parcel as a gift so that duties would not have to be paid as I had effectively already done so. This was on 04/18/2010, order number 1700000718, I left it very long thinking that it is just the speed that Anderson Vintage Parts machine works at.
I have sent many emails asking nicely (without my usual blunt manner that produced at least half a result last time.) but to no avail.
These emails have all proved fruitless as they have been met with a stoney silence. I have tried asking for a refund of my money as I have managed to find the matching pipe elsewhere, also silence.
So the protestations of rebuilding websites and large volumes of emails cannot be true as when I tried to make the payment, lo and behold who is there instantly like the rubbed genie in the lamp?
I have been patient for long enough now.
This has been a very frustrating and time consuming affair, I will be able to get my money back from my credit card company but don't you think it would be better coming from yourselves? As I'm sure your reputation must surely come under scrutiny from the credit card people.
I also feel that you should reimburse me the lost customs charges of some ?60.
None of this would be nessesary as I naturally like to think the best of people, but there is simply no excuse for ignoring emails and not communicating, just silence is not good enough I feel violated and abused and this is no way to run a business.

I will be posting this on the gs resources web site as they have asked members for their experiences involving Anderson Vintage Parts.

Yours sincerely

This update from GS100GK...

Hi, Frank. As a caution due to the poor experiences of fellow GSR members, I attempted to contact Anderson Vintage Parts to confirm everything before ordering an impossible to find part.

Here's my experience so far.

1. They do NOT answer the phone. I have MANY calls placed, not one answered. Just a British accented automated calling system

2. I've sent them email telling them I've been trying to reach them by phone. I get an automated response: "The message you sent requires that you verify that you are a real live human being and not a spam source.
To complete this verification, simply reply to this message and leave
the subject line intact."

3. When looking to order online, you are forced to accept a very one-sided agreement that basically says they may deliver, they may not. You cannot cancel an order, but you won't hold them responsible for extended delays. Restocking 25%. They even specifically mentions limited liability for "failure to deliver"

Ouch!

Several red flags go up.

1. Cannot reach company by phone or email
2. Company tries to make a legal agreement to accept fraudulent activities. Ie: If you order with a credit card, the card may not be charged if the order is not shipped within 30 days, and one cannot be held faultless for "failure to deliver" a product or service.

IMHO, this company is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
