I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I NEARLY poured some fuel in the tank today and cranked it over but without any pipes at all, i talked myself out of it. I might put the Marshall pipe on there just to hear if it's gonna fire up or not, not much of a job to put the zaust on temp anyway...... Still waiting for my silencers to arrive so i can cut them up and fab an exhaust/s

I'm already thinking of my next project (i know, i know!), i think a bobber / chop type of thing might be on the cards if i can find the right donor, i WON'T cut a bike up unless it's truly shagged but i don't want anything standard. I'd like another shaftie tbh, they look soooooo clean at the back when you black em out and let's face it, performance isn't much of an issue on that style of bike anyway.

That big open area in the middle where the battery was, is that where the box of kleenx goes for all that have made a mess looking at it... LOL or the number plate... Been watching from the start ... very impressed. Great job !!!:dancing:

This is a very inspirational build. I've always loved the look of the cafe bike. But this takes it to a new level. Very clean and unique.
The taillamp looks modern, yet has that classic look. Job well done !!

The rear frame section is custom, the seat pan is custom too. The tail unit is off something, i dunno what though, i just filled and reshaped to suit my wants, along with some glass reinforcing inside.

I hand sanded all the ally parts and 2-stage polished everything, 3-stage would be absolute mirror finish. I plan to finish the polishing once the bikes complete. Those carbs aren't polished btw, that's powder coating!

Yaddy, that bike is so sick! Did you paint her yourself? Very deep gloss too. That tailight fits PERFECTLY. I agree that the shaft works better for your bike. I had a GS850 shaft and wanted a chain GS so bad. I have a chained GS750 and after seeing your shaft driven, now I want the shaft driven back
. Man, they should have built them like that.
Last thing, what size tires do you have front and rear? Tube type? Will that back one fit a chained GS width wise? You rock!

yeah, i painted it myself, was a lonnnnnnng hard weekend and a comedy of errors but i got there in the end!
The shaftie is perfect for the clean open look, if i were building something based on performance though, chain it all the way for sure........
Those tyres are tubeless Avon Roadriders, you can fit them with tubes too if you want to. Sizes are standard 110 up front and 130 rear, they do look a bit bigger though don't they......
Dunno if those sizes would fit your GS? I know the front at a 110, is slightly bigger than my GS1000, that has 100 up front and 120 rear, could haved fitted the 130 in there EASILY though.

I have just gotten back into bikes (85 GS1150E) now that my kids are grown up and out of the house. I have a bulletin board in my garage and am posting inspirational build pictures on it. This bike is all over it along with nvr2old's and several others from this great forum.

ta very much for your comments, i am so stoked that people actually like the bike, It's my first attempt at custom work. I've done standard resto's before but never anything that involved having to get a little creative.
I'm humbled that you see fit to have a picture of my bike for inspiration, i agree that nvr2old's is an impressive build and many, many more on the forum are just as nice. It makes me very happy that you see my bike as being anywhere near the quality of some others on here, very happy indeed!

And today i fired it up!
Runs like a dog at the minute but that's fair enough, it's been through a fair bit of turmoil and the carb's are from a different bike, it just wants a bit of fettling i think, to make it run properly.
I have a ticking noise from the top-end but i think that might go away once the motor beds in a bit and i get those carbs working better. The tickover is up and down at the minute and it coughs and splutters a bit as well.
It's a runner though, fires right off the bat so i think it's just setup issues really. I did expect a fair bit of setup to be required, using pods and cv's is said to be a hard nut to crack.
Still got a few things on my list that need crossing off as time progresses but i just couldn't wait to hear it burst into life. Gives you that extra wind for the final push....................

On those tubeless tires, is there anything you did to ready the rim for the tubeless tires? Did you need to seal them before they are mounted?

nope, the rims actually say "tubeless" on them but my rear had a tube in when i took the old tyre off, i didn't see much point in putting one back in. I just got the tubeless stainless valves that bolt into the hole and i was set

Hunt about and you'll find that the guys on here report mixed sucess with tubeless tyres. Some work well, whilst others leak. I've known a few of my friends to paint their rims on the inside with a good quality enamel to help stop the air leaking through the 'porous' aluminium.
