another gs 1100 swingarm question

Hello;

I just picked up a 92 kat 1100 frontend and an 80? gs1100 swing arm off fleabay for my winter project on a 78 GS 1000. picked up the frontend, complete with forks, triples, calipers,master cyl and fender for $80 + ship and the swing for 35 + ship. Thought that was good, will see when they get here. Am I right that I should use early 90's rear wheel, rotor and caliper,, with the gixxer caliper bracket, and weld tabs to mount the strut on the bottom. read somewhere I could use stock 1100 spacers? would do 530 conversion and figure would need offset front sprocket. Any other suggestions. thanks

on my bike the wheel came off a 1991 gsxr1100.
you need all the gsxr spacer, the caliper bracket, and a gs1100 or 1000 rear wheel spacer, the thin one.Is very thing but it fit.
The rear sprocket is a sunstar mounted backward and i have a 1/2'' offset front sprocket.
You can see the GS spacer at the right.

Thanks kochic. maybe someone can tell me the difference in forks in 1992. the 1100fp, which I assume was the Katana as it had 16" wheels, and the 1100gp which had an 18' front wheel, have different part numbers. would it be a problem running a 17" front with the kat forks on a 78 gs 1000. thanks

i run 17'' front and rear.If you can fit the wheel go with the 17''.

is there any reason not to run a 16" front with a 17" rear on the gs1000 with the 92 kat frontend, other than exhaust clearance. also would 93 or newer front wheels fit or would the width of rotors be different than 91-92 wheels. thanks, trying to sort out best way to set up the 92 Kat frontend on the gs1000 so I can start looking for parts for the winter build

16s were abandoned by the OEMs because they made bikes too twitchy so if you do that you'll want to adjust ride hts accordingly. Also, you might want to check into tire availability in 16". You may not be able to get decent rubber any more. I'd suggest running 17s at both ends. That way you can get any and all the new rubber choices.
