A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have gotten a Vesrah engine gasket set and the O-rings for the intake flange to head interface do not look the same as tne OEM ones. The 1s in the kit are orange o-rings. the stock 1s are black and flat. They also look thicker. I just wanted to get some feedback from any1 who has used Vesrah gaskets before. the package has my application listed on the back.
Now the pertinent info:
86 GS550ES-(GSX550 Katana for the rest of the world) thanks fellas you guys are rarely at a loss for answers to my qestion. And it is very appreciated.

A buddy of mine who owns a non-dealership motorcycle shop swears by OEM gaskets. They will always fit, and if you get a kit, everything will be there. He has not had good luck with aftermarket gaskets. This is not to say the one you have is faulty, I'm just giving one man's opinion.

I've used Vesrah gasket sets before and noticed some differences in the o-ring seals. Seems like some of the real small ones wouldn't fit so I re-used the stock ones. The o-ring you're referring to should be fine, I think the original was round when new but has flattened out from age and heat. If it won't stay in place during assembly, try a dab of Yamaha Bond or silicone.

I uesd Vesrah last time I rebuilt my bike and had no problem BUT...I advise that you use the OEM base and head gaskets...If you have a leak that will be the most likely places.

Is it possible to post a picture here. "worth a thousand words" you know.
anyhow I am talking about the intake manifold gaskets, specificaly. thanks. I have an anoying intake leak at this location now, causing the bike to hi-idle after it is warm. extremely annoying and it makes shifting "less than smooth" shall we say. not to mention what the lean condition does to an engine. although it doesnt ping at all. anyhow, again thanks to all of you.
