Anybody know what kind of sentence Premeditated Vehicular Homicide carries...

Because I'm about ready to kill this bike. Thinking about doing it Thelma and Louise style and letting it fly off a cliff....

Wrenched on the bike this morning for a few hours and still could not get it to fire up. Decide that I would take everything back off and recheck it. Proceeded to take off the intake boots and remembered that I hadn't done it during the last carb rebuild because the bolts holding it on where pretty crusty. So at that time I shot them with penetrating oil and left them alone. Hit them with another shot of PO today and managed to snap off all 4 screw heads... WHAT THE EFFFFF! This bike hates me and I'm starting to think the feeling is mutual. This was the first time I seriously considered putting it back on craigslist....Just venting.

Hey buddy, don't kill it!
If there is thread left, just weld a nut onto each "stud" and the heat from the welder will make them come out easy-peasy.

The Skunk is far from ride-able. the '80 had a burnt exhaust valve, needs re-assembly and still needs to have the front components completely gone through. then, after JUST having overhauled the alternator on my escort, the rear brakes started making noise this morning. my sons town car needs the fuel pump replaced (lucky me). and, to top that off, on the ride home last night the base gasket on the '82 started leaking badly.

I guess it's time to put the carbs back on the Honda and ride it.

Puts life in perspective doesn't it...and also the reason I am slowly replacing each and every bolt on the bike. I plan on keeping it around for a while. It will be fun to have and ride to my next career as a school teacher (in four more years if I survive the navy...lol). Not too mention my 5 yo is taking a peculiar interest in Motorcycles...my wife is not happy...lol.

@ all... thanks gents. Like i said, I was just venting, but I do take comfort in knowing that i'm not the first to snap one of these off in the case. Did a little search on youtube and found that the world is full of people just like me.....nice.

went out of town this weekend so haven't had an opportunity to work on it. But am thinking that i'm going to try and drill it out. all four bolts broke inside the casing (meaning I have no thread on the exterior to grip). So my plan is to use a carbide drill bit slightly smaller than the bold and with a steady hand try and drill out the screw enough to be able to collapse the remaining threads inside the hole. Sounds complicated.

Just be real steady and don't break the carbide off in a hole. An alternative is to get some left handed high speed drill bits- as you drill, the bit just might grab the stud and spin it out.

@tom203...hey man, thanks for the advice. I have never heard of left hand drill bits. I will give it a shot. I haven't messed with the bike in about a week. I've been avoiding it. I want to make sure that i'm in the right state-of-mind so that I don't rush it and gum of the works. I'll definitely let you know how it turns out.

if you are able to drill a small (yes small, no, not tiny) hole in the general idea of the center of the bolt, you can try a bolt extractor. they work good. and you can put the 'ol penetrating oil right on it for a long time prior to trying to remove it also.
