A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I know not what thou speaketh of...

You said visiting SanMarcos TX.

If you do not already know, you should know that is real close to Texas Hill Country area. And you should know about these roads: FM337, FM336, and FM335.

When I was there I had to ask what "FM" stood for and they said "Fhamtahmahakat", so I still didn't know. Later I figured it was Farm To Market, althouh some of the signs said had Ranch Road.

Anyway, if planning to go to San Marcos TX, with your bike. Do look at a map for FM 337, FM 336 and FM 335.

OHHHHH......

I'm not Riding to San Marcos. (It's an 11-hr drive from Alamogordo) My daughter currently lives there and commutes to Austin. I'm staying at a hotel in Austin so we can enjoy the sites.

Thanks for the heads-up....Texas, it's a whole other country!

Alamogordo to San Marcos

I had occasion (2009) to rent bike out of Austin for part of a day.

Was Okay, but not like when I was in Hill Country (2005). That was great.

Ed, Your PM box is full.

Thanks Redman, I cleaned out some old messages but still over 90%.

I plan on a brief visit to San Marcos....since it will take me the better part of 10+ hours to drive my SUV there. I'll take a Friday off for travel and get there in the afternoon, maybe 5-6pm. I plan on leaving Sunday so it just leaves Saturday to spend with her so I don't plan on Riding.

I got your message, btw. Thanks for all the info...I'll be sure to check it out with my daughter.

I have a week off work this week and got out for a short ride yesterday morning... curtailed by the clouds covering the sun and making it too cold for my summer gear! The jacket liner has to go in soon...

I had the roads almost to myself which was awesome, and I hit my favourite set of curves on the north side of Mt Mee that have me loving these Avon Roadriders more than ever. I have never had such a smooth run up/down those curves... so much so I did them twice!

Couple of shots into the sun from Clear Mountain Rd:

Pulled over for a quick shot on Kobble Creek Rd:

And the rest stop on Mt Mee:

Week off work eh? lucky bugger!

Nice scenery Pete, always wanted to visit Australia but it's full of snakes and spiders.....

Great pics! I just took a mine in front of an abandoned building tonight...

What a beautiful bike, I have to get myself an 1100 katana when I can find one. My little 650 Katana is almost ready for a photoshoot maybe this weekend I'll get some pics up of a ride out with the wife :)

Cheers mate! Yeah those roads start about 5 minutes ride from my house... makes it nice for a quick trip if I get some spare time :D

The snakes and spiders are ok, it's the drop bears you need to look out for!

The most wildlife I normally see during our rides are ducks, turkeys, and the odd wallaby...

If I remember correctly one of those spiders is called Three Steps...

Haven't heard of that one?

Like I said, they're all good 'n all... but it's those drop bears that are the nasty buggers!

More pic's of BOTH bikes please. What size is the Hornet and what is the U.S. name for it?

The Honda CB600F (known as the Hornet in Europe and Brazil and 599 in the U.S.)
