I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Anyone have a pic of a GS650G? n/m

I want to see if the rear frame area and side cover mounting points are the same between the G and GL models. I am missing the left side cover on my bike and can't find one but I've found a couple sets of G covers. I am almost sure there would be a clearance problem with the GL seat and G covers but I am about to start a custom seat w/ a fiberglass pan so that shouldn't be a problem if the frame/mounting points are the same.

thanks, Ed

I have a 82 GS 650 GL. My seat and side covers are off right now anyway. I can take pics tonight...I'll have them posted sometime tonight if you want.

oh nevermind...i just re-read the post...you wanted 650 G not GL right?.

thanks for the responses guys

Stimpy: Yeah a pic of your GD without the seat and sidecover would do it

The L model should be the same acording to the manual, the only difference I could find in the manual was less front brakes, less gas, and some minor details.

They're not the same. The frames are different, the side cover mounting tabs are in different places, the gas tank is shorter on one than the other, the seats mount differently, the rear fender is different...etc.. etc.

Thanks Jeckler, now I know not to waste my time with the G covers. Maybe I'll try to give the bike a "naked" look. I think the air box side looks clean enough, but would have to rearrange/ fabricate a cover for the battery side and cut off the mounting points and repaint the frame. But not for at least 6 months

I have seen quite a few "homemade" sidecovers made of a thick flexible sheet of colored plastic zip-tied to the frame, not too bad looking compared to flashing all your innards. Might do ya till you can find the OEM ones.

as jeckler said, the tank is a different length, as well as all the other stuff.

BTW Jeckler, I just put that L tank on my G model! looks great, I think I like the more teardrop shape over the G. had to "add" some length to the front of the seat to cover the gap, and a little plywood hidden under it all, but it blends real nicely with the rest of the black ducttape!!! Thanks again!!

Cool. Glad it worked for ya. I noticed when I put it on mine, that you'd have to add a couple inches or so to blend it in. Did the inside come clean?

LOL! What a riot. I can imagine what it looks like (not in a bad way, but the classic 'Rat-bike' look).
