A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Since I still don't know a whole hell of a lot about my bike's specs, I would really appreciate an expert opinion on what mechanical problems I might have. Is there anyone in Columbus that has some free time on the weekends to do a once over and test drive my bike to see if there needs to be some work done?

I live on the north side of Columbus and I'm willing to ride out to you. I don't have tools or diagnostic equipment, so that's another reason I would need your help.

I am still deciding whether to keep it or sell it. I love it, but at the same time, I won't have a place other than my patio to store it over the winter, and I could really use the cash.

On the other hand, I will miss it dearly when the next season rolls around.

Thanks in advance.

I can hook you up bruddah! I live in fredericktown, Im about an hour north of you, or I could stop by and look at it on site.

Im off fridays and sundays, and have all the tools for tuning that bike, and a garage to work in up here.

Id be glad to take a look at it and try to help with any problems you may have with it.

hey no sweat, the offer stands if you have a hard time selling the bike, or change your mind before you sell it.

if I had some disposable income right now, Id consider picking it up myself, looks pretty nice. Im a little amazed that youd set the bar so high before you allow yourself to ride again, Id rather ride a moped than not ride at all, seems a new gsxr is a lofty goal.

Anyone have the winning lotto numbers for next drawing? lol

Yesterday I took a ride to a friend's house who was working on his carbs, and he tested my charging system. At the battery, there was no charging, so we did a no-load alternator test like is says in the clymers manual and turns out the stator is bad. So we assumed replace the R/R too because of the history of these bikes charging system problems. The R/R pobably made the stator go bad. I want to say I jacked it up by jumping the bike off a running car, but as I can remember, it wasn't charging correctly in the first place, hence having to jump it. Well, just got a reply from my post on parts wanted, can get a stator for $50 and R/R for $35, is that good? They are being pulled from a 1979 GS 750L and mine is a 1980. I also looked at electrosport and they have a stator for $135 and R/R for $113 with 1 yr warranty. Should I replace the wiring harness too when replacing all these other electrical components?I could go with the cheap fix for now and save up over the winter for the brand new parts, or is that asking for trouble?
