All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Anyone in the South need weekend help?

Steve

GS Whisperer
I am in Greenville, Mississippi for the month of August, meaning there is NOTHING to do on the weekends.

Areas within a 150-mile radius include:
virtually all of Mississippi that is north of Hattiesburg,
northeastern Louisiana, including Shreveport and Alexandria,
central/southeastern Arkansas, up to the Little Rock area,
and the western tip of Tennessee.

If you don't need any help wrenching, that's OK, too, I'm happy to just socialize. :D

Have a safe trip my friend, we will see you when you get back....btw, if you'll be home, BRP trip sept 17-21 with our friends from OZ. I will need some help mapping that out, so keep in touch !

Josh, what do you mean our friends from OZ.

Welcome to the black hole of the U.S. Steve. I lived in Columbus, MS for 10 years and that was 10 years too long.

What a shame... one of the smart GS'ers and nothing for you to wrench on... Maybe a sign at the local gas station would get you a little work on something with 2 wheels... I hope something pops up...
Curt

I know what you mean. I was here about 2 years ago and was not impressed then, either.

That time, I had my Wing with me. I went for a ride to find some interesting roads. I did a 387 mile ride one Saturday, only about 25 of those miles were worth the trip. :(

.

Why not find a dead GS locally and restore it?
Sounds like you will have the time.

The 'curves' in MS are mostly highway on/off ramps. It's horrible. Flat, straight nothingness. Not even any great scenery. Feel free to travel further north and stop in to say hi. I have great roads/scenery and a big couch.

Thanks for the offer, Ian, but it's about 550 miles to come say "Hi". :-\\\

I know you have good roads there, I have been on a few of them.

If I was on the bike this time, I might consider it, but I left all my bikes at home this time. :(

I was just getting ready to

this up to the top, so thanks for doing it for me. :D

!?!?!? Are you feeling OK?
Feeling fine, thanks. :p

Just don't have the Wing put back together from its escapades in Flori-duh, and couldn't pack everything I needed to bring on Junior (I usually tow a trailer behind the Wing to carry it all). Besides, Junior only has a few miles on from RRR. Not sure I am confident enough yet to trust him for a full month as my sole transportation ... 700 miles from home. :-\\\

Bad escapades in the Sunshine State?
I believe the answer to that is an unqualified "yes". :-\\\

I did not realize that the back of the hotel where I was staying tended to form a wind tunnel that funneled enough air to blow my Wing off the side stand.
Yep, completely over, onto the right side.

I have all the parts necessary to restore it back to its usual good looks, but some of them need to be sent out to have some pinstriping done.
I need to remove the damaged panels from the bike for proper color matching, and I just did not have enough time to do all that before I left home. :o

By the way, this little scenario happened THREE TIMES
before I finally started parking the bike between the trailer and the van,
and using a ratchet strap to anchor it to the trailer.

holey crapp steve, were there any typhoo warnings?
No typhoo[n] warnings, no hurricane warnings, no tornado warnings, not even small craft warnings.
It was just a constant gentle breeze that hit the side of the hotel and funnelled down to where the bike was parked and blew it over.

.

Wow!! That's a real bummer. I've seen wind funnel like that but I never had any idea it could blow a Wing over.

Hey Steve, I'll need your full name, address and some details about you.
If all checks out ok my garage needs a good cleaning. The lawn needs mowed, trimmed and edged. The basement could use a good cleaning also.
You paint? The dining room needs a couple of coat of Harley orange. How are ya with heights? The outside windows on the third level need cleaned, I have the ladder.
Do not interact with the guests while you're working and keep the noise down.
Dont forget to use your inside voice. You yanks tend to get kinda loud. I think it has something to do with talking through the nostrols.
If you're really prompt I may let you have a beer and a smoke.

Anyway, lemme know..
