Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I'm having trouble finding a replacement air filter box for my 550 Katana, so am considering these:

Anyone else using them? The bike has a V&H 4 into 1 exhaust and a damaged air filter box. Putting these on would eliminate the stock box and filter, like pods. Any opinions? Anyone? Bueller?

Nerobro tried running them on his 550/650 hybrid and it kept acting like it was running way rich. Though that's not much of a testimonial because he hand made a filter that was about the size of an airbox and it still acted like it was running rich.

Wouldn't proper jetting take care of that?

What's he running on there now? Nerobro, you out there?

i am running them on my 550 with good results, you MUST install the dyno jet 550 kat jet kit though. My bike seems to like the 150 dj mains over the 155 mains, both come in the kit.

You will also have to wash the filters about every 3000 miles. They clog kinda of easy and you will get a flat spot in the higher rpms. For what ever reason the 550 is very sensitive to air flow. Also one more thing to be aware of if you go with these filters you will not be able to ride the bike in the rain. The tank sheds water right on to the filters and clogs them up as well which makes the bike unrideable until they dray back out.

one more thing, they are kind of tricky to get them on and off. it is a very tight fit, spray silicone helps but expect to swear.

DON'T BUY THE CHEAP EMGO STYLE INDIVIDUAL PODS FILTERS, THEY ARE CRAP. THEY FLOW LESS THEN THE K AND N AND WILL GIVE YOU A BIG HEADACHE TRYING TO GET THEM TO WORK WITH THE JET KIT. ASK ME HOW I KNOW.......

Sounds good. Where'd you get the jet kit?

Well, if I do go with these I'll just ride my other bike when it's raining. Either that or the cage.

I'm used to washing K&N filters, and I usually do all mine at 3000 miles. Does the fact that these are open to the air mean they need cleaning more often than the K&N stock replacement filters?

Hopefully I won't need to pull them too often. Especially since you gave me the jet size tip.

Swearing and wrenching usually go together with me aynway. Just ask my wife, neighbors, pets, etc.

I only run K&N or OEM.

I couldn't get the K&N's to run properly on my bike. If you need a stock airbox.. I have one to sell ya.

I WAS able to get the emgo filters to run properly (or at least mostly properly) on my bike.

I am working on a better solution to both. ;-)
