A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Are GS1100E Clutches Interchangeable?

yes the spacer itself is thinner.
sorry...
car lag sittng in still.

suzuki added a 1-2mm shim the same dia. of the spacer to make up for the thickness difference.
why???????
i have no clue why they just didn't use the 80-82 spacer and for that matter there's a bunch of other GS's that have the same exact spacer as the 80-82 1100 16v.
if you leave the shim out when using a thin bearing spacer...
when you put it in gear you will have direct drive and pulling in the clutch won't help:eek:

i am in my recliner watching it f in snow like crazy.
sinus headache killing me and so on.
i felt a million times better when i was in the phoenix area:|
Yeah, that dry heat. I know it well. ;)
If the humidity goes over 20% I start cursing my High School football coach.

The only thing this would seem to change is the depth of the area for the steels and fibers. Did Zookey do away with the 10/10 clutch pack with the 1150s? The inner washer only shows up in the 1150 microfiche with the different size shim sizes even though they came in the 83s.

83 was the only 10 plate cluster monkey.
1150 is the same as 80-82 and some shafties.
suzuki added a shim to bring the 83 spacer back to 80-82 thickness.
i don't know why????they didn't use the 80-82 spacer instead????
FYI
take an 83 shim and add it to your 80-82 or all 1150's and never bust the back off of your inner hub again.
when someone that rides aggressive takes there clutch apart...
look at the back of your inner hub for rub/chatter marks and then you'll know what i'm talking about.
when the heli gear loads and flexes the basket into the inner hub bad things happen.

so, if I wanted to add a spacer to my '82 1100 I would put it in behind the outer clutch hub:confused: to take up any slack that is allowing my outer hub from wobbling....?

I was having some of these same problems. Ray and Posplayr helped get to the bottom of it.

Here's a link to the 1150 microfiche

click on "transmission" then "clutch".

Note: there are 4 different part numbers for the "thrust shim (#4)" The thickness of this shim must be selected to attain 0.003" thrust clearance for the outer basket.

82' models did not use this thrust shim. If a thrust shim is used with an 82' spacer you will end up with 0.040"+ of thrust clearance. The basket will wobble badly and likely hit the crankshaft counterweight.
