A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have been running Metzler Marathons for a number of sets and have been very impressed with the wear - at least 12-13,000 km from a rear. Just got my first set of Demons and they seem to be great so far. Great in the wet!

Well so far I've gotta say I love these Avons!

Hit the twisties on Saturday morning for a shortish ride and had the best run I've ever had up Campbell's Pocket Rd. It's uphill, tight, and very twisty for a number of km's and a barrel of fun on the 450 any day.

The difference between the SD's and Avons is mainly going to be due to size... the wider SD tended to tip in a little quick and had a point when leaning left or right that it really wanted to tip, almost a bit unstable. I'd gotten used to it though...

With the better sizing of the Avon, the front felt absolutely rock solid and planted and I could tip it in with a lot more confidence.

One thing I did note though is that the Avons tend to ride a lot smoother/softer than the SD's did. Something to do with the compound or something I would assume...

So I have absolutely nothing against the SD's and wouldn't have changed except for the sizing issue... I understand 100% why the Katana guys love 'em and stick with 'em :)

Just wondering what everyone is using?
I just got a quote for Pirelli Sport Demons
$165 for the front
$190 for the rear
Fitted
I asked him about BT45's and he said they used to recommend them but the technology is a bit out of date and they feather( which is exactly what mine are doing).
Anyway just after opinions as our choices are different to the US.
.................... hi i,m running bridgestone tyres front/back ,,,both from mick hone.... good to deal with regards oldgrumpy

Will do for sure Tim, only takes a few months to rack up 5500km's these days...

Research the Pirelli MT 66 Route, I'm loving mine, and if they do in fact last the reported 10k plus miles, They grip extremely well also. Have yet to ride the rain but reports there also are Very well.
