    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Auxiliary lights for nighttime riding

Howdy folks. I've been thinking about mounting some LED aux lights on my crash bar to help with nighttime riding. I have an LED headlight which works really well, but would like some lights directed down more at the road and to the sides of me, for when riding on dark backroads. Mainly to avoid critters and deer jumping out in front of me.

I've been searching the forum, but there aren't too many threads dedicated to the topic. I did find one relevant thread that had good info, but it's from 10 years ago and the biggest complaint about LEDs in that thread is that the tech isn't great yet and they were still expensive. Fast forward to today, there's a plethora of affordable LED options out there which brings me to my question. Does anyone have LED aux lights on their bike that they recently purchased and could recommend? Obviously budget friendly is nice, but I don't want complete junk.
 
Don't know about accessory lights, but if you're still using the stock halogen headlamp, upgrade to a LED Truck-LIte. Complete game changer. I no longer fear the dark.

Not sure what Jedz has mounted on his Yamaha, but the accessory yellow lights he has mounted seemed really good. I hated riding in front of him at night.

Thanks Rich, but per my original post, I already have an LED headlight that works very well. It was on the bike when I bought it and I'm not sure what it is but it works well.
 
I just use aux lights for daytime running… my nighttime rides are over….be prepared to experiment…like you said, the tech is evolving. I’d look for something led that draws at least 10 watts actual per light tightly focused to catch these silly suicidal creatures.
 
I don't intentionally ride at night, but often times my commute involves riding in the dark in the morning. Sometimes even if I have to stay late. My headlight is always on so that takes care of DTRL.
 
I go out of my way to be noticed…here’s my setup with 2 watt leds…they really ain’t as bright as shown…due to camera flash
