Many of you will probably feel as if I am a troll. I still have a GS 750. But I also have an 03 Harley V-Rod. I also saw that episode of Pinks......What a joke. I would be glad to challenge any of you that think these machines can beat a V-Rod. Gs100 on down....... There is no comparison. Please don't feel as if I am bashing these machines, I'm not. I love my GS but I am definately not blind to the fact of what these V-Rods can do.......Justin

Yeah, maybe....but my GS1100 didn't cost me $20K, or close to it, even when new. So what if its engine wasn't designed by Porsche...My GS is stock as far as the engine itself, but does have a stage 1 jet kit in the carbs and a lighter 4 into 1 exhaust. I could dump $1,500 into set of smoothbore Mikunis and an 1168 Wiseco kit, and a VRod would not have a prayer.

First of all, Don't be an a$$ if you would care to discuss this further I can elaborate as to why it says forbush....has nothing to do with politics...... and nothing to to do with the President of the United Stated.....
Secondly, I haven't been on these forums for a long time....I use to be registered under jforbush, couldn't remember my password, so I reregistered as jrforbush......Thirdly, in the time that I have note been here I purchased my 03 V-Rod, so I did a search on V-Rod to see what others are saying about it......Many people have alot to say, none, I have found (maybe I am wrong) own both bikes.....I am of the school of thought that if it has 2 wheels, then lets ride!!!!!!!! No brand loyalty here!!! I love my GS but I love my V-Rod. I am just being realistic as to what the V-Rod can do. Put someone on that bike (Not the fat a$$ that was riding it) even with moderate skill and I will show you different results........I am NOT bashing the Suzuki @ all......I am be truthful as to how well of a machine this Machine is. It just happens to be a Harley:oops:
So what exact times have you run with the VRod? Somebody asked earlier, but you may have missed it. Got any slips?

Porsche did NOT design the V-Rod engine. Porsche contributed in the design of the liquid (water) cooling system of the engine. The engine is Harley-Davidson not Porsche.

Reckon that's why my 550 gives 'em such a run for their money. \\:D/

its the RIDER not the BIKE !

im sure an old 750 could beat a zx 14 with right riders!

Well, then...I stand corrected. I was under the impression Porsche designed the entire thing.

On a bone stock VRSCA I can easily run in the low 10's in the quarter mile.

Not in YOUR wildest dreams. Not if it is stock. 110 HP and 620 lbs.

H-D V-Rod: 620 pounds (with a full 3.7 gallons of fuel), 1130cc liquid-cooled 60-degree V-twin, 5 speeds, belt final drive, 67.5-inch wheelbase, 27.1-inch seat height, 47.1 mpg, 11.88-second, 113.1-mph best quarter-mile acceleration.

'78 GS1000: 11.83 @ 112.07 mph STOCK
'85 GS1150: 10.63 @ 127.90 mph STOCK

I would challenge you to produce any article that shows a STOCK Vrod posting any times even close to a 10 second quarter.

vrods are cool, I think. But to say you can do low 10's is silly.

I quoted real world numbers too. But in the virtual world my EX500 runs high 9's at 180 mph. Not bad for 5000.00 huh?? :D

'85 GS1150: 10.63 @ 127.90 mph STOCK

Wow that is flying, is that a run of yours or done by a magazine of the day, my 1100 drag bike et?s a little better but is the same mph. I wasn?t drag racing bikes in the 80?s so I missed these when they were new. I haven?t had a chance to get my 1150 to the ? mile yet to see how well it does; it did run 6.75@104 in the 1/8th.

That's from an old Motor Cyclist article. The stats on the 1000 are from Cycle World magazine, March 1978.

Fun, huh? \\:D/ That's movin' right along!

I was gonna comment about his stock V-Rod doing low 10's too. Just silly.

We need Earl to chime in! I love his signature line....

"95% of all Harley's ever made are still on the road, the other 5% actually made it home"!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!

I'm not reading this whole thread, I just wanna race the vrod. See the Moosehead Lake ride in the meetingplace, we are planning a little fun at the strip for Thursday evening before that ride. Hopefully you are in the area?

Where do you live jrforbush? You should join us on the ride, there will be some good people there, and some racing!

As a side note, and regardless of the performance, that vrod is the most gawd awfull looking bike human kind has ever created. Even a Ural is better looking than that disaster. And I love Harleys by the way, love them for sure. One of these will be mine someday...

(P.s.s, the above statement is only my opinion, as is your statement that you can beat an 83 1100E- until you do so...:-D ) -trash talk!!

With what mods? The time you posted isn't possible with a stock VROD.

I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood something. In which post did you lie?

Yeah. The lowest times you see in magazines are with riders that are very good at racing. They're usually small riders too.
Most of us can't match them and "our" times are even higher. His bike is a true 11.2 with these better riders.
This guy could have a freak V-Rod you think? Maybe it thinks it's a re-incarnated Suzuki?
