A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Well all the recent refurb/restore/rebuild projects on the go have made me want to get back in the game. So yesterday I got stuck in to cleaning and organizing the man cave and got the 550 project off the lift in preparation for hoisting the Kat back up.

So today I managed to get this done despite all the chores the boss threw at me:

I'd forgotten how difficult it is to get on the lift with the underslung Yosh pipe. Some shimming of the frame rails was necessary but it gets the job done.

I recharged the spare battery overnight but its going to need replacing as there is no "oomph" and she barely turns over. I have the deep cycle marine battery on charge now so likely I'll try and shock it to life tomorrow with that hooked on.

Once its running again I think the plan will be to give it a quick trial run starting off in second and see if she will upshift from there. I suspect this won't get me very far, however, and I anticipate having to delve in to the tranny anyway.

I do feel good that I got this done and I even managed to get in a couple of hours on the 750 as well and all this after a shade too many Guiness yesterday. Its been a good weekend and its not over yet as the Missus is whipping up a brisket of corned beef (cooked in more Guiness) and served with the ubiquitous cabbage and 'taters.:dancing: Yum

A belated "Erin go bragh!" to all my Irish brethren.

And Slainte! too.

A little late in the game there Spyug.....but better late than never

It will give you something elsse to do over the next few months, and since you have another daily driver, your good to go and you won't be missing any rideing time....

so much for me picking up a cheapt KAT, to work on....now your gonna do all the work, and jack up the price.......:(

hope you get that tranny sorted out, hey if you need a hand, give me a shout,,,,I don't mean to work on anything, but help out in watching and have a cold one, while the master is at work....I can supervise very well...:D

Here's to a quick turnaround on this one....

Thanks, I just shot another Guiness up my nose :) Some sense of humour you got. Maybe I should come down your way and stand around as you get that mill bolted together. Its kind of fun to watch all the sweating and cursing that goes on as folks try and get them levered back in to the freshly painted frame.

Any chance of us seeing that soon?

Slainte,

Soon,,,,ummm yup, I just don't know how soon....:D

I am still waiting on shop time.....nothing I can do about that.....:(

I have a plan on getting the motor in, don't you be worrying about that...and if I do swear, you wouldn't understand it....I speak a foreign tongue...:)

I still have a set of carbs to bench sync as well, can I bring those over and we ,,,, you can show me how it's done correctly, since your black booty is running ohhh so fine.... ???

and you know, I put an order in for some brake parts, boots and rings and such, and I looked at my current ones really closely today, and they actually seem just fine, nice and rubbery, no nicks cuts or anything, sheesh, but it's OK I still need all the other stuff I ordered.....

So anytime you need some supervisory assitance, just send me a PM...

heck I will even bring the cold ones, unless you prefer your suds warm...I'll leave them in the back of the truck for a day or so....:dancing:
