    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted.   • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Bandit 1200 Exhaust

Anyone know if a Bandit 1200 exhaust will fit an 1100E or not? The spacing should be right it's whether or not the collars will match the bolts on the head.
 
Yes, they will fit. I put an 1100 header on my Bandit.
But are you sure you want to do this because the Bandit exhaust easily weighs double what most aftermarkets weigh. It is stainless double wall pipe, with a heavy mid pipe. I used the 1100 header, fabricated a mid pipe,gutted the stock Bandit can & I must say with this combo I certainly felt an increase in power after re-jetting.

And a GS1100 exhaust will fit on a GS1000, ergo a Bandit exhaust fits on a GS1000? 8)
 
Hey Paul, I'm actually looking to cut the downpipes off of any header that will fit my 1100 and graft them onto a GSXR 1000 tri-y type of exhaust in order to free up some ground clearance and give the bike a broader torque curve than my V&H dump-all-the-pipes-into-the-collector-at-once setup. Thanks for the reply.
 
Well, Bandit pipe is stainless, I'm not sure you could weld it onto the steel headers of the gixxer.
Someone here that is more familiar with welding should chime in here. I have one that runs along side the motor, it doesn't run under the motor at all. I'm sure you could find one somewhere or maybe in the "parts for sale" section on this site.

Well I'm looking at an aftermarket Bandit exhaust that does not appear to be stainless so I think I'm OK.

No personal experience as I am running the stock header with a Yosh RS3 midpipe slipon on my '05.

One sidenote, Holeshot sells the slipon seperate from the header allowing you to purchase just the slipon and then at a later date add the header. Therefore, if the HS slipon works on the stock header then any aftermarket slipon/midpipe combo should work with the HS header.

Does the header portion dump into a common collector or do the headpipes merge into a 4 into 2 into 1 setup? That's what I'm looking for to avoid the stacking of headpipes into a large bulky collector.
 
Did anyone find a exhaust setup that will work on the GS1100? I am in a simular situation with my 83 GS1100esd after doing the GSXR suspension and rim upgrade and am looking at freeing up some ground clearance.

Did the Bandit exhaust work?? Any mods needed? Also if we go from a 4-2-1 will we still have access to the oil drain plug?

Lastly, can the centerstand still be utilized?

You should be careful to check that the GSXR header is steel. The entire exhaust system on my 06 GSXR 1K is titanium. Depending on what year yours is from, you will have the same thing. There aren't many OEM steel exhaust headers on sportbikes these days, everyone has moved to stainless or titanium because of weight issues.

RJ, don't count on a cut up hybrid system to do anything positive to your torque curve. A well designed 4-2-1 will give a flatter torque curve than a 4-1, but that assumes the system was properly tested and developed. I don't expect yours will be horrible, but I wouldn't count too many chickens on this one. If your primary concern is ground clearance, then it is a worthwhile exercise.

Bandit downpipes bolt right on but there can be clearance issues around he sump & footrest hanger area depending on model, acraprovic (if thats how you spell it) exhausts work well but are a little expensive, micron make a similar set of downpipes & collector which are a little cheaper

standard bandit exhausts are heavy due to the twin walled downpipes & heavilly baffled secondry pipe

welding stainless steel if you need to is not a problem :-D

To weld stainless to a carbon steel you have two usable fillers that will work, E-309 or ER-309 is the more common the other is Inconnel 182 and is probably more difficult and more expensive. Remember to keep heat down, let base metal cool to below 300 degrees f if multiple passes are required. Ray
 
When I tried to fit a bandit header to my 1100 it did not fit. The angle of the pipes and the head did not match. The bandit header has a much shorter length before the first bend down as well which doesn't do much for performance.

I think it was a 1999 header. Maybe it is diff than what you others have made fit?

I couldn't get the header flanges to mate with the port surface of the head properly causing leaking. Also had a clearence issue with the oil pan. Just couldn't make it work right.

It would be helpfull to know exactly what yr bandit 1200 pipe fits. I would like to find one that does work.

PIcs would be great too.....

In this pic you can see where I had problems with #1 down pipe. It hits the engine and doesn't allow proper alignment of with the exhaust ports.

Paul, Because an 1100 pipe fits the bandit doesn't mean it works the other way around. IF the 1100 pipe has more clearence..it will fit a bandit. Conversely the tighter bandit header may not fit an 1100..

My main reason for posting is to say HI to Tillsonburg. I picked tobbacco there for yrs back in the late 70's. Also in Delhi, and Walsingham.

I'm not sure on the make of the pipes in the photo above mate, its obviously aftermarket but is NOT the same shape as stock bandit 1200 downpipes in the indicated area, i'm not even sure it would fit a stock bandit with that bend there to be honest :shock:
 
This is listed as a oem replacement for the bandit I got off the net. The pipe I had bought looked just like it.

Do you have any pics of your bike with the pipe on it?

Tone,

The angle the pipe comes out of the head in that pic is greater than the gs1100 head. That was one of the issues when I tried to fit one.

Does anyone have a pic of one on a gs1100 engine? I would love to find one that works for my bike.
