Battery Killer

Something is eating my batteries. I put a different battery in my bike - used, but semi decent, due to the one it had was stone cold dead. The next one would run the bike, but I had to push start it or jump it. Well, I left the bike alone for about a week and a half, and - stone cold dead again. Would the R/R cause this? I want to buy a brand new battery, but dont want to risk the life being sucked out of it in a week or so... Thanks, Will

Quick and easy troubleshooting

get yourself a multimeter good for 10 amps or so,

Put a charged battery in the bike and leave the negative disconnected.

Set your meter to amps and connect it between the battery negative and the ground wire.


Withe the ignition off and no other accessories (if you have any) are on then the meter should show 0.00 amps.

Turn the key on and it will jump to about 3-7 amps ( lights and ignition system)



However If if shows something as soon as you hook it up then leave it hooked up and remove the battery fuse or disconnect the red wire on the Regulator Rectifier.

If the meter then shows 0 amps , you know what it is

if that doesn't do it , Disconnect the ignition switch,
