DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have looked all over, have no clue what it is.I love the sound and the looks, just curious,Anyone know what it might be?the baffle comes out and is repackable.

Couple of questions:

1. What is "populare"?

2. Does the passage through the baffle go all the way through or is it blocked in the middle?

It looks a lot like the chrome one that is on my son's 850 (see pic in my sig), that I have been told is a Jardine.

.

"Populare" is an Italian verb meaning "To make into the Pope".

i meant to spell popular lol, my typing stinks, brain faster than fingers, my appologies for confusing everyone lol.
Steve, it goes straigh thru, i will pull it and take a pic in a bit, doing a valve adj. and cover gasket today.

Steve, it goes straigh thru, ...
I asked that because the baffle on my son's bike does NOT go straight through. There is a flat disk in the middle of that perforated tube. All of the exhaust comes through the collector, hits the disk at the front end of the baffle and is forced into the perforated tube. Because the perforated tube does not go straight through, all the exhaust then has to go through the perforations, into the outer chamber, then back through the perforations in the back half of the tube, to get out the hole at the back.

We have tried different materials in the outer chamber, ranging from a fiberglas blanket to loose fiberglas to coarse steel wool (should have used stainless ). The steel wool and the loose fiberglass do OK. The blanket was quiet, but rather restrictive, actually choking it down to where it could not breathe well at all. We have finally decided to just leave it UNPACKED. It actually sounds quite nice that way. As much as I like quiet bikes (hence my Wing), I might try to talk him out of that pipe so I can put it on Junior and give him the stockers, since he is riding his 1000 more than the 850 nowadays.

.

well i got on the bike and rode after valve adjustmen and now its dark so no pictures of the cone tonight oops lol.
Packing it doesnt really quiet it much but it does some.changes the tone a little also, i have house fiberglass in it right now,but it burns up in 2-3 weeks or so lol.
I will pop it out tomarrow n take a pic, i think it is due for a repack anyway,if u take this baffle outit get REALLY LOUD.
Remember mopar made an exhaust back in the 60's that had a cable operated cap that opened it after the header for the drag strip?i would love to make one for a bike, pull up to a harley that thinks he is loud n just blast it in thair face so they know how annoying it is lmao

I used this fiberglass muffler packing on a Wolf pipe, couple years ago... cheap, worked well, & good folks to deal with.

OK here's the pics.
