A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Im wanting to polise my engine covers and 4 to 4 exhaust. Im wandering what Chrome polish and TECHNIQUES you use? THanks for the replies.:)

so my week end project is to polish my covers pretty up my bike. Ill upload some before/after pics and tell you how it goes. Maybe even the Best CHrome polish:D Thanks chuck, Ill give it a try...

...to be continued

What chrome are you trying to clean? Sounds to me like you're refering to aluminum parts.

Semi-chrome for chrome and I use fine grade steel wool for aluminum, that is once you get the old yellowed weathered clear coat off, and the steel wool will take that off too, but it does take time.

I've been using Mother's for years. It is just as good on chrome as it is on aluminum. I use it for the final polishing of the parts that I do, graduating from 00, 000, 0000 steel wool on to flannel. The removal of weathered clear coat is the easy part.....no paper and no steel wool.

Jon Boy, looks great. What jetting did you end up with to run pods?

Final polish for aluminum, I'm currently using Mother's, for chrome I'm using good old Turtle Metal Polish. To get there, though, for aluminum, I go with a buffing wheel and jewler's rouge, and for chrome, to remove any rust, I use either aluminum foil and water (yes, it DOES work), or Simple Green and a greenie scouring pad.

So do the greendish scrubbies...obviously he hasnt actually used either one.

Polish AND 000 steel woll for the harder rusted spots. SOS soap pads work well too. I just rinse the soap out of them and use the steel wool along with the polish.
