Best tires for GS1100GK?

As the roads were snow-covered when I bought my 1982 GS1100GK a few weeks ago, I have never ridden my bike.

It was delivered by truck and now sits on the lift, awaiting a brake overhaul, fluid changes, valve check, new battery etc. Also the tires need to be replaced as they are old and worn.

These tires were on my bike:

Front: Metzeler ME33 Laser 110/90

Rear: Metzeler ME88 Marathon 130/90

Are these the best tires for this bike? What would you recommend?

I am looking for good handling and grip; longevity is not the first priority.

Any recommendations are welcome!

It is my understanding that the GK is the only non-L bike that has a 16" rear tire.

The E4 tire is not offered in a 17" for the rest of the GS line.

Because of that, my son and I got 16" wheels for our bikes so we could mount E4s for our trip last year, so we would not have to change tires mid-trip. Alas, plans changed, the miles did not pile on as hoped, it will take longer to wear them out. :encouragement:

EDIT: Stick with a 100/90-19 tire on the front, not the 110/90. Still plenty of weight capacity, but quickens up the steering noticeably.
