DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I just bought a 1980 gs 850 I found in some guys garage. Everything is in good shape but it came with the wrong carbs ( I have some useless to me 79 carbs that don't fit in a box) I need some carbs for it but its as if the 32s just don't exist. I'm just trying to figure something out so I can get this girl going. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

There are sets on ebay. You may want to post in the Parts Wanted forum here as well. Any year 850 CV type carbs will work.

Carb rebuild tutorial is linked in my signature.

Offer your useless to you carbs up for sale or trade here and look for 32 or 34 CV carbs for sale here or on Ebay.
Don't forget to acquire the O-ring kits including the intake O-rings from www.cycleorings.com

I have some 34 carbs (i think they were on a 1100) one of the carbs is missing the bottom bowl. They look pretty dirty too.

I tried to post an image but I dont have them on a url.

Those 34's are the wrong carbs for your bike. If you want to minimize adaptation problems, it would be easier to just get a set of the proper carbs.

Hi Mr. imfrikkinawesome,

Yes, search the eBay, post in the Parts Wanted, and check the Parts For Sale sections of the forum. It should not be too hard to find a set of GS850 carbs for your bike.

I'm sure your bike needs some other maintenance too. Here's some S.W.A.G. that I hope will help with that. Please note that an ISP glitch has sent into the ether some of the bits that were on my little website. I'll be restoring them soon. :o

If you are here you probably have a 30 year old motorcycle that needs about 20 years worth of maintenance. You'll find all kinds of helpful tips, procedures, manuals, etc, in the links below. Let's get started.

Let me dump a TON of information on you and share some GS lovin'. :D

I just stopped by to welcome you to the forum in my own, special way.

So 34mm won't work at all ? I know the 28's I have are not gonna do anything for me. I'll post a picture when I get back to my internet and computer. How do we post pics to this forum ? ( Facebook IMGsrc ?)

Hi,

It is not impossible to fit 34mm carbs to the 850. You would have to quickly become well versed in carb tuning after you sorted out the spacing differences and possible linkage differences in the carb rack itself. It would be much easier to find the proper set of carbs.

If you read my website you will find a guide that explains how to post pictures here.

Thank you for your indulgence,

Basscliff
