    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

my chain on my GS550ESG is a little loose. i dont want to spend a fortune buying a new one. does anyone know where i can get a new one. i've looked ay bikebandit and babbitonline. i was just hoping someone had a different place to look.


what kind of battery should i get??
 
What size chain do you need? I just ordered a 530 series non O ring chain for my KZ550 that was about $30 from www.denniskirk.com I also ordered front and rear sprockets. The entire order was less than $90 delivered.

You say that your chain "is a little loose"....did you try to adjust the wheel to tighten it? If keeping cost to a minimum is an important part of running your bike then this is what you'll do until you learn about chain and sprocket wear and then decide when it's bad enough to warrant replacement of these parts....best done as a complete set.

I'll make a similar guess about the battery vs economics and say that you'll l get good service with a basic lead-acid battery from one of the recognized brands such as Yuasa, GS etc. Some of the best service I've gotten from motorcycle batteries has been from the basic products :)

Dude, you're better off to get a manual, and learn about your bike. And about chains. Getting a non-o-ring chain is false economy. It will last 1/4 as long as an o-ring or x-ring chain.

i did buy a repair manual. unfortunately its a clumer(sp?) manual and is absolutely useless that i found.

so is there any chain kits for my bike??
 
Your Clymer manual is actually one of the recommended top three.

The best will always be the factory manual, there is a split decision between the Clymer and Haynes manuals.

But I'm not sure if you need a 110 or 112 link chain. Z1 also should have sprockets for your bike. But shop around for the best price on the best stuff. I'm not aware of any "kits".
