    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Bike won't roll !

Sometimes when I go to roll my bike out of parking spot it won't roll out unless I ride it. It's like the brakes are on any ideas ?
 
I know a dumb question but do you have it it gear? Are you rolling it without the clutch pulled in?
 
Put the bike on it's centre stand and try to spin each wheel, my bet would be the brakes are draging, but it could be wheel bearings.
 
Make sure your foot is not under the tire!

Otherwise, do what the other guys said.

Sounds like your brake calipers need a rebuild. New seals and dustboots on the pistons. Clean and regrease the sliders on the calipers, these are the usual suspects. Do this and you are good for another 15 years.

Andre's right -- dismantle, clean, grease, rebuild. Clean the pistons carefully with the finest of emery paper, then throughly wash them (wiping with a cloth).

You will probably find that the caliper mounting brackets, where the pins slide into, are worn and may need rebushing. Any engineer worth his salt should be able to do this for you.

Always best not to take shortcuts with the brake system. :wink:

I narrowed the problem down. It's the rear brakes. when I have the rear BRAKE ADJUSTING NUT screwed onto the brake rod (and inbetween that part of the brake Lever , u know) as far as I can with my fingers and then I apply the rear brake and take my foot off the brake the wheel still wont turn unless I grab the brake lever and pull back on it. It does this even with the adjusting nut out of the lever. Help ! :x

If it's my brake shoe return springs. The Problem just popped up. I did have a new chain installed not too long before the problem popped up. You dont think maybe a different position of the wheel (from where the put the chain on and maybe adjusted the slack) could cause that ?
 
If it's a drum not a disk brake you may have to pull the wheel off to pull the drum, could just be dirt in there or one of the springs may have come adrift.
The position of the chain makes no diff.

Do you think when the mechanic removed my wheel to replace my chain or maybe even when the chain brake it just shook things around in there a little bit and a spring came adrift ?

I ran the motorcycle out of oil. I detect some engine noise now. It's a tapping noise. My clymer manual says I need to adjust my valve clearance. Does anyone know if I running it out of oil will result (there was no oil on dip stick, Im sure it was atleast wet inside) in enough heat to wear one of these tappet shims down
