A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've had my spare, (rusty) gas tank n the bike while my buddy painted it. He had some trouble and setbacks, but he just called me and said to come get it!

I'm excited.
good, now you get get rid of the ugly one on your bike , I wasn't going to mention it for fear of offending you. relieved to here you'll have one not so ratty

Yeah, the one on it was my practice piece. I put the new one on and, baby, it makes the rest of the painted parts look like they were done with crayon.
I got a cool pic of the tank with a perfect mirror image of me shirtless, camera in hand. :)

Copy and pasted from "Post a pic of your bike" thread.
I took a few new pics with my freshly painted tank.

lookin' good, but then again it more or less looked that way in the older pics :?...

in the close up ,the tank looks new so i'm sure it must be stunning 'in the flesh' :-D

i see by your reflection that it got warm up there!

I really dig that fairing. I've been thinking about fabbing something of my own for a while now.

Thanks Beergood.

I got my "special shim changing tool" yesterday in the mail. They forgot my gasket. :?

So anyway, I went out to the shed and pulled the shims out of my spare engines. Now I've got 16 shims in a little baggy ready to be swapped into my engine.

Still need feelers and the gasket.

I dove into it last night. I studied up on the procedure and took notes.

EVERY SHIM was out of spec. Too tight. Id didn't take long and even taking my time it was only two hours start to finish. Next time will be an hour.

There is a noticable improvment in power right off the bat. It's nice. It's funny how a small change to the engine takes POUNDS off the front end.

I rider friend saw these hard bags and a top box at the dump and snagged them. He thought they'd go with my bike pretty well. I think he was right.

HAHAHAHAA!!!

My clutch has had the normal "rattle in neutral with clutch out" since I got it, but it seemed to be getting worse. So today at lunch I pulled the clutch plates out of the spare engine and rode back to the shop.

I pulled the springs and that plate thingy, and BROKEN FRICTION PLATES fell out of the basket! There were the remains of 3 busted up plates and some blue metal drive plates. I guess the inner plates were doing all the work.

The basket nut was also way loose. Now it's all snugged up with good used plates and smooth as silk!:-D

If anyone is following my periodic ramblings...

I got the new old Yosh pipe on it after I broke the OEM exhaust. DJ stage 3 is in and at WOT it boogies! I still need to do some tuning for the low end.
