    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Blew a fuse - ?????

Hey Fellas, see if you can help me trouble shoot this.

I took my bike out today on it's first real ride after the rebuild. I drove to the office (about 8 miles and everything worked great) and then home. On the way home I went to use the turn signals and nothing happened. Long story "short" I blew the 10 amp fuse that runs the gauge lights, turn signals and running light. Replaced the fuse and it works. I just don't know for how long. Is this just an anomaly or is there something causing it.

I have an Eastern Beaver PC-8 fuse block. All connections are clean and connected. But obviously something has gone awry.

What should I check?
 
Get out your wiring diagram and check the circuit(s) for any shorts. It could have been a bad fuse. Sometimes fuses look OK but when under load they will blow. If the replacement fuse blows also then my guess would be a short.
 
Now that I've thought about it some more, I had to splice my tail light wires because the insulation was rubbed off where the wires go into the back fender. I bet I may have a short in that splice. I'll check that first if this fuse blows.
 
Just so you are fully-aware, the fuse that powers the turn signals also powers the brake lights and horn, so follow those wires through the harness if you don't find anything awry on your rear fender.

Have ridden everyday for a week after blowing this fuse. Replaced the 10 amp "LED indicator" fuse with a regular 10 amp fuse.

No more problems. I think I can say that it was a bad fuse.
