    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Blowing main fuse after 1 minute of warming up

Hi fellow gs enthusiasts. I have any issie where my bike will idle ok from cold for just over a minute. After that it will rev really high on its on after giving a bit of fuel and blow the naon fuse cutting everything out. Has anyone had this issue before? Video of the situation uploaded. Thanks in advance

 
I'm no electrical wiz but let me ask a few questions and maybe something will be apparent or others will chime in here.

How many cylinders does that bike have? Better yet, what bike is it? Sounds like at least one cylinder is not firing.

Have you changed/ modified any part of the ignition system?

Are the plug wires on the correct spark plugs?
 
ok so you have an air leak or soemthing
also a lot of enleanment if indeed the thing is running with n airbox or filtration

chase through your harness looking for a short
a dead short would blow right away but a frayed wire or chafed exposed wire might take a bit f time to heat the fuse to melting point
 
2 cylinders, gs450s 1981 model. both cylinders are firing, will run fine for over a minute then this. No modifications, was riding it up until this started.

Ha, guess I'm just used to the sound of the fours.
 
Disconnect the r/r from stator and battery and see if the bike will start and run; use a 15 amp fuse

So i think ive found this issue, this little prick was poking out onto the compliance plate. It started an ran for a while, then i moved it and no no power at all. but i think it has something to do with the fuse holder ground aswell, as when i touch it the power comes on. Back onto the headache tonight! Thanks for your help so far guys!
 
Update:
Peeled back some of the electrical tape that was ment to be hiding the recently "updated" wiring. Looks like fun times ahead.

That is a serious mess of overheating wiring. You seem to have a sense of humour; you're going to need it.


The only way to upload multiple images in a post is to do it through links to a web-host. Up to 10 per post allowed. Photobucket is basically dead, but there are many options, including but not limited to Google Drive, Imgur, tinypic, Imageshack, etc. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses.
