Bragging on my 82 GS750EZ, and need a favor to re-make my decals

So first, I have to preen. I have owned her for 30 years.. women came and went, but she has stayed with me. But alas, she ran like crap for the last 20 years, and looked like a hag to boot. But for most of 15 years, I have been beavering away at restoration.
So now the engine is leak free, stripped and painted. Carburetors cleaned once again. Special arrangements to use the wrong size rubber inlet tubes in the air box. New brake lines from HEL, had to mail off my lines to have them duplicated. Major body parts painted. Probably $500 worth of OEM fasteners to replace rusty ones. A bargain $80 very clean exhaust off of epay out of Texas, including shipping. Much electrical work, much of it thanks to GS resources.
Now she runs almost like she did when new, looks much better, and every time I get on it, I feel like I am 18 again. I figure if I cannot make myself look like I did 30 years ago, well I sure can make the bike look like it did.
So the rub is that when the body parts were painted, I lost my decals. This is the model with the black background with orange and red stripes. Much to my dismay, the two replica decal folks do not do an 82 GS750E. So it looks like I have to go it alone.
My plan is to tape on paper, trace out the correct stripes, lay the papers flat, translate to CAD, and have someone cut some vinyl for me.
Now to the favor.. could someone make some measurements at various points along the decal set, and let me know what the widths are at various points? I would like to be as close to original as possible.
Thanks, gang..
Chris~

Sadly it is not the same..
The best image I can find on line of the bike would be
http://www.motorsbros.com/image-posts/504-Suzuki-GS-750-E-07.jpg.html
which is very close to period correct.. his seat is a little different, and he has some add ons near the engine.
Note the full decal set is comprised of;
a pair that runs around the front fender..
the stripes that run from one side panel, back to and over the tail, up to the other side panel..
and of course the pairs of stripes on each side of the tank.

Sorry, I be new to this..
This should show you a pic that I lifted of someone's pristine GS750EZ.. just like I would like mine to look.

We gotta see your bike Chris. Photo or it didn't happen...

Now I get it!
That will have to happen tomorrow, what with the scattered darkness. For now I can share the stripped down beast. It has the new HEL brake lines, and the engine painted and slipped back in.

What about getting a talented painter to re-create the decals with paint?

I've always wondered about this; I'm sure someone will chime in with why that's not option one or two.

Great looking bike, even without the stripes.

It can certainly be done, if you can find a good painter. Problem is, good painters don't come cheap.

Nothing complicated there, pretty straight forward, paint is the way I would go, no question.
Looks like you already have clear coat on there, so lay the stripes out with 3M fine line tape, mask off spray the lines, cover with clear coat, wet sand and polish, nothing to it.
Nice looking bike by the way.

That is certainly one more option to go with.. but once again, I am up against the issue of figuring out the dimensions of the lines. They vary from one place to another. Certainly solves the issue of going around curves.. I could not imagine how to do that with pin stripe tape.
Chris~

Chris, I am sure if someone has the same scheme on their bike, they will post up some dimensions for you.
If not, just wing it by eye, you have some good pics top work off, compare the width of the stripe to a known element, for instance the thick stripes look to be about 2/3 the width of the Suzuki badge on the tank, give or take a bit, the thin lines probably half that.
It really is not even going to be noticeable if it is one or two millimeters out.
You will see when it looks right.

kz900.com should have the stripes you need. I just restored a 1978 GS1000 and they had mine and a lot of others.

kz900 is one of the sites that just does not have the right bike.. replicadecals is the other. I have given up hope of a purchased decal set.
So I have three options.. trace out and cut decals, trace out and cut vinyl, tape off and paint colors.
Flyboy, I will wind up wagging the dimensions, but only if I just cannot get any feedback from the crowd.
And on rare occasion, I see someone with THE same bike.. and believe me, I will jump in front of them to make measurements.

Hey, that's my bike! Photo courtesy of the PO. It looks a little different now.
Here are some measurements for you in MM, hope this helps.

Mission accomplished.. if I were there I would hug you.
I must get busy tracing on the bike now!
Thanks for the assist!
