    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I pulled the front tire off this morning to replace the speedo cable. All went fine. Took the bike around the block. Pumped the front brakes until they were firm and they are now rubbing on the rotor. Not enough to cause any drag on the bike, just enough to hear and make some new grinds on the edge of the rotor. Is this normal? Are the pads just "reseting" after I moved the wheel or are there some fine adjustments I need to make? I worked with tighetening and loosening the axle nut and tapping the forks to move them around. Didn't make a difference.
 
If you did not get the spacers in the correct places, your disks may be rubbing on the calipers. You should be able to see that by just looking at them.

My question to you, though, is: why did you remove the tire (wheel?) to change the speedo cable? Just unscrew it at both ends and swap it out. :o

I couldn't get to the cable end to unscrew it. It was an aftermarket cable and had a really small diameter and was right up against the fork. Didnt know I culd rotate the speed sensor until after I got the wheel off. This is all new to me. I'll go ahead and reveal my true "newbness". I took the caliper off and realized that when I put the wheel back on I got the rotor between the inside brake pad and the caliper instead of between the calipers. So yeah. It was rubbing a little. :oops::oops:

I fixed that. Loosened the calipers. Had my wife hold the front brakes tight after pumping them back up while I torqued the calipers back down. Perf. Smooth as silk. :dancing:
