Hey guys! I was thinking today. I should be able to just buy a rebuild kit for the calipers I have right? So would that be called the piston kit? I think that is what they have on bikebandit. I am having some trouble finding a decently priced alternative. What all is needed to do a rebuild? What will I have to do? Worth doing it? Any and all help is really appreciated!

Thanks y'all!

I think what bike bandit is calling a piston kit was a rebuild for the engine. I could be mistaken. have you tried to loosen and remove your assembly to see exactly why your front brakes were a problem?

Hey Don! Yeah the piston kit is for the brakes. Maybe that isn't exactly what it is called. I have completely rebuilt a motorcycle before. So I kind of know what I am talking about. This is my fourth bike, and it is the only one that I have ever had brake problems with. The front and back brakes are frozen shut. It seems weird to me, because it seems they would freeze opened??? I would just replace them if I could find the complete calipers somewhere. Thanks Don, you rock!

If your model E has a single rear shock and 16`` wheel it is possible that your front end is identical to GS 1150.
In this case I would ditch originals and go for 4 pistons Nissins, you could buy for $ 50 from EBay ( both ).
Quite a difference in braking power.

Just checked the bikebandit site and it says they are different. TOO BAD

If the distance between mounting bolts is the same, they will fitt.
I can measure my tomorrow.
If the distance will be smaller perhaps calipers from GSXF 600 / 750 will fit. They are even cheaper, but still better than stock.

That would be awesome if you would get those measurements! Thanks a lot!

The distance between midle of the bolts in 1150 is 93 mm. This is the right distance to use Nissin 4 piston calipers ( GSXR second generation, 88+ Bandit 1200 first gen.)
If yours is smaller ( like 85 mm ) you can use early ( 86 - 87 ) GSXR 4 pistons calipers 100%, or probably GSXF 600 / 750 calipers ( but I`m not 100% sure about that).

Hey there! Well I just measured mine and they measure about 2 7/8" from bolt center to bolt center. So that is 73.025 mm...Any ideas? Thanks a bunch!

Woops! I was measuring the mounting holes. It is inbetween 3 12/16 and 3 13/16 on the caliper bolts. So it is inbetween 95.25 mm and 96.83 mm. I wish I had a way to measure mm. I dont know what to do. It is either too big or too little. Thanks again!!! :D

If nothing fits you could go both ways:
- make adaptor plates,
- adopt newer front end complete with 17`` wheel and brakes.
I did it and am very satysfied with the results. Still had to make plates, because Nissin calipers I bought, didn`t fit 87 GSXR front end.
They bolt on to 88 GXSR front end though.
You could see pictures on my page

All the writing is in polish, but you can see pictures in `Tuning Suzuki` section.
