A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So I dont have a factory airbox. My breather hose comes off the motor and just hangs over my pods. Should I get a pod filter for that hose? Is it necessary? I saw one that was K&N on Z1 for $21 or something like that.

I would say depending on how picky your inspection folks are or how thorough they are you may want to pick one up. You don't have to get a really nice one, just pick one up from a local auto parts store that will fit the hose.

you could add a filter, or get a longer pipe and re route it so it hangs down just behind the engine, or into a catch tank if you like

I can't imagine having a motorcycle inspection, that's crazy!

They used to have (vehicle) inspections in Florida, Motorcycles were not exempt. I used to have to put my front wheel in the brake testing two rollers and they would start it and the rollers and front wheel would go spinning, once it reached a certain speed then they told me to hit the brake and the bike would jump 5 feet out of the rollers, then they did it for the rear, I was a kid then, but it was kinda dangerous, small bike though, not like a 1100. Then they stopped vehicle inspections altogether.
Breather hoses, whenever I got a new bike (new 2 me that is), one of the things I would do is get a new breather hose and run it from the engine where it comes out of the head down behind the rear wheel, then I would plug the hole where it fed into the breather box. Just the thought of hot oil being sucked into my carbs made me mad, so that is how I dealt with it.
Since that time I guess I just learned to live with it.
But I often think of doing it again, I believe the bike would have to run better than to have old emission gases, which contain acids, dirt, etc. sucked down the carbs.
