I think I'm approaching the point of putting carbs on my bike, and I want to get everything as close to right as possible before I start riding, then tuning. I've seen/read about the trick of substituting modified fuel bowl drain screws for the factory units, with the provision to attach clear hose to the modded screws to allow a visual real-time reference fuel level. So, I started shopping for bowl drain screws for my Mikuni BS32SS carbs. I'm probably not looking in any of the right places, but I haven't found any. Does anybody hereand know where I can find a set of these? Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance - Chris

Thoes screws are available at your favorite OEM parts source. Partzilla is good.

At Partzilla:, item #41 on fiche, part number 13247-44080, $6.07. $7.95 shipping, total = $14.02.

At Parts Outlaw:, item #41 on fiche, part number 13247-44080, $5.37. $4.99 shipping, total = $10.36.

Guys, I think he's looking for the nipple-type fitting that'll allow him to connect a clear hose for float level monitoring. I'd like to find some of those as well (fleabay has a vendor wanting $20 a piece for them-no dice!).

Yeah, I get the same impression, too, but in his first post, he mentioned a "modified fuel bowl drain screw", then asked where to buy drain screws, as he could not find any. Just obliging and answering the question.

I think I know what OP wants-some bikes have carbs built for this with a screw that works as valve on the side of a nipple (Keihins-CVKs on Hondas and Kawasakis)- and I even think I've seen them somewhere as add ons...

BUT as add-ons, you might find there's not enough room underneath the Suzuki carbs so double check the length before buying anything...I say "might"-it's just a thought .

Thanks to all! Yes, Steve, as Nessism stated, I did find them on Partzilla. I will also check out the price for 4 on Parts Outlaw, looks like they'll be more budget friendly. I actually have access to a lathe and a milling machine that will allow me to drill the screws for the pipe to be inserted and epoxied in place. They will be used to set the float levels before the carbs go back in the boots/on the engine, so space under the carbs is not so much a concern. BTW, if anyone on here needs their own set of drain screws drilled in this manner, just let me know - I can do it free of charge, just pay the postage.

Use your lathe to cut your own screws. That would be a fun project. Or drill some screws with the same threads as the float bowl. You don't need real deal Mikuni screws.

Thanks again, Nessism. I tried cutting bowl drains with a much bigger diameter "head" out of some mild steel round stock on my lathe at work, only to find that it cuts at a taper, to the tune of about 0.008" in 0.75". The end result was a stud that, by the time the die would actually cut threads, was too big an outside diameter to thread in the bowl. So unless we get that worked out before I'm ready to hang carbs, I'm buying screws. Thanks for the help - Chris
